Without the watermelon is 1776, we would never won our independence from Great Britain. What you don't realize is that it all came down to a seed spitting contest. Yes, I realize that is hard to swallow. The history books have neglected this fact for lo these many years. But it is high time the watermelon was recognized for its contribution to our independence. If General George Washington hadn't had those wooden teeth..... he might not have been able to send those seeds in a projectile motion straight across the Potomac. So we honor this amazing fruit each year on the 4th. From seed....... to shining seed.
