War is needed. As horrible as that sounds sometimes war is needed. People are proud to read about American victories in the history books but they dont want to face the fact that there are still issues that have to be dealed today. I dont know how people believe that things could be worked out without war. Many people have their strong opinions that war is wrong and that theres a better way. I havent heard anybody come up with a plan thats better. If they did, I would be all for it. War is what got us to the point that we are now. War is a sacrifice that has to be made for the nation and for the nations future.

The ends do not justify the means.
So, if I go up to you and shot you in the face and take everything you own, then you should have no problem with it, correct? After all, I benefited greatly from your sudden demise.
War does not unite. War destroys, and modern war destroys ruthlessly. You only have seen benefit because the only wars fought on US soil were the Revolutionary War, the 1812 war, and the Civil War. Had you lived through the Civil war, you would not have proclaimed it "good" for anything. It took decades to recover.
Indeed, being a country in Europe during WW2 certainly didn't have any advantages either. You can have a large workforce, but if the Germans bombed all your factories I seriously doubt it would the economy. It was only with the help of the US (basically unscathed through the whole thing) that Europe managed to recover as quickly as they did. The same can be said for Japan.
War has benefited the US mostly by luck and by the fact that we are separated from the rest of the globe by two oceans.
Don't kid yourself. You have absolutely no idea what real war is like. Only the British have ever landed forces on US soil. You have no idea the devastation a war can wreck, both in lives and economy.
We've been lucky. Period. We got on top by the right set of circumstances.
Without war, we would have 300 million people contemplating how to fix the REAL problems with this country. We'd have billions of dollars to invest in technology and education. We could institute effective training programs for those out of work and turn them into productive members of society. And we might just be able to fix health care while we're at it.
War has it's uses, and they are extremely few. Unless you wish to follow Rome and Sparta into the annals of history.

Mr gun hoe, Some wars are worthy of dieing, for but only in the case of a real threat, we spend trillions on reaction and readiness for wars that will never happen. The U.S. has built a monster war-machine, we have military bases in more than half of the countries scattered across the crust plates. People have died in vein so that others could live in vein. Calm down young one, keep your eye on the ball.

This war has certainly united us against a common enemy, Bush and his illegal and immoral war. 72% is the percentage of us united against Bush's war. Have you heard, some of his staunch supporters are beginning to back off and see the error of their ways.
This war has certainly worked to make Bush, Cheney and their "blind trusts" rich. Look what the no bid billion dollar contracts are doing for Halliburton. What about the $15 million per DAY in oil our GAO says is missing in Iraq. So, what you say is true. Happy 4th. Wonder how many of our country's finest will die needlessly tomorrow?

Only a nihilist and fascist would admit any of that.
War is extreme waste. Waste of resources, waste of energy, waste of lives, waste of the planet, waste of human energy, waste of money, waste of intelligent and progressive forward thinking. War is digressive and regressive. It is reactionary and an act of complete failure and breakdown. We may be a world super power, but we have the highest incarceration rate and highest poverty rate of any 1st world capitalist country on the planet. And, we were a world economic superpower until the war broke out. Now the dollar is way down and worth only half that of the British pound and the Euro. War gets us into extreme debt and the result of ending a war is a major recession unless we have the kind of economic program prior to the WWII that FDR implemented called the WPA which got our country going again. Deep down I know you are completely and totally wrong. War only helps the very very few in our country get rich. It sucks the resources from education, healthcare and long term real economic growth. Your diatribe is way off the mark and full of inaccuracies and falsehoods.
The war has even devided the people from it's government because of this idiot president.

so... you love war?
obviously you've never lost a loved one in war... maybe fate will show you some real pain and loss due to war... then you can talk about how much you love it then?
there are some good things... granted... but to just generally say "war works"... it's a bit of a silly statement, since many wars "haven't worked"
the Germans were saying "war works" for a few years there too... until D-Day... ask them how that worked out for them...

that may be true. but war also creates confusion, physical displacement. fear, blood , bodies, waste, destruction. People if they survive are never the same whether it be the civilians, the soldiers or the dead. but you must be the politician who although may have experience reading about a situation, have no idea what its like in the area raped by war.

It wasnt the worst conflict in terms of casualties in spite of the fact that it replaced into unquestionably a conflict of imperialism that's tied to money and not the rest fairly. there is greater to it than that however the justifications for conflict weren't in basic terms from all beligerents.

I'll say it's bad. Anyone who's ever experienced war can tell you it's bad. War sucks. Just because some people can make a profit off the occasional necessity doesn't make it good. Go try it out if you don't believe me.
