There are only two(2*) natural fears that we are born with #1 is fear of falling or being dropped*.. #2 Fear of loud noises*... every other fear is self-created in the mind*... You must confront your irrational fear of the dark for that is what it is irrational*....... I would suggest you wear a good quality sleep mask during the daytime for extended periods of time*.... A good mask will not allow any light through it whatsoever*...... You will overcome this unnatural fear if you do so*...... You can do it*.... There is nothing to fear, but fear itself**.........

There Is No Easy Way Of Overcome The Fear Of The Dark
I've Had That Fear Several Time,
The First Time I Got Over It Was By Have my Dog Sleep In The Room
The Second Time I Was So Upset That I Just Didn't Want To See Anything And For No One Else To See Me, So I Didn't Care About The Nightmareish Form Lurking In The Dark Of My Mind

I Don't Know If That Will Help,
But You Will Get Over It

To over come your fear you must expose your self to as much darkness as possible. Dont worry its normal being afriad of the dark, I used to be. It sounds hard exposing yourself to darkness, but if you start with a small amount of darkness in a small amount of time you can build up to pitch black. Remember, dark is just like light. The same things happen, ya just cant see it! Good luck!

Go out at nighttime, for about an hour or so, and take your time walking, don't hurry to get home and you will see that darkness can actually be relaxing.
