I'm surprised no one has said "love" yet. In my opinion, love is the true opposite of anger. When we're angry, our anger is almost invariably directed toward other people, and it is anger that can turn into hatred if we let it. Hatred is the polar opposite of love, and I think anger is on the same continuum, just not quite as far away from love as hatred is.

If we're angry with someone, we don't usually (maybe never?) feel love for that person at that time. Only when the anger passes can we feel love for that person again.

the opposite would be calm, level headed, supportive, i dont understand you, but im willing to hear your point of view....
respect for others point of view, God in your heart,,

Anger is caused by a feeling of desperation when we dont understand the other persons point of view...the anger is actually towards ourselves,,,for we dont know what to do in a specific situation, of confusion ,for our brain retrocedes to old situations when we where a child,, where we where not allow to think,,,but only to obey....
Our brain locks and refuses to think twice of our confusion, and we lash out in anger. The anger we manifest will then activate the anger mechanism in the other person,,,and you will haved activated a back and forth time bomb,,between two persons,,,where distrust and hate will also flourish from the blinding arguments, of proper intelligent communication.
Anger is a manifestation of a abusive childhood, where the person was forced to accept rules thru mental intimidation and was not allow to question the good or the bad orders given....Physical abuse was not necessarily given, but verbal and treats was the weapon used,,,by the persons ( parents-relatives) that had physical or economic dominion over us...
The verbal abused child will become a very distrusfull and angry citizen, most of their life if they dont understand this. psychological entrapment.
While the physical abused child,,,will become a very sumisive person,, most of their life,, and will fall prey to anyone who manifests a captains attitude.. angel guasch

Hmm- apathetic, I think.
Anger is a strong feeling. The opposite of that would be not caring at all, I think.

I would say good-natured or even-tempered since both of these reflect a disposition that is not so emotional.
