Amateurs are small time, rarely stake out anything, and usually are not very tactful. The pros know it all. They usually go for the bigger prize, and know all the possibilities. The planning is intense and precise.

They are similiar b/c they are breaking the law.

well...both love the thrill. i image it must be a great filling. difference...professional thief knows the tricks of the trade. they probably know the best ways to steal and not get caught. amateur thief's are still learning. they are going to make mistakes and will probably be caught more often then the professional thief.

Probably things similarly different as on uses a set of picks and rakes to finesse a lock and the other throws a rock thru a window and grabs a few things.

Amateurs ...normally steal off honest people...their personal belongings..pros at least steal from companies....stores etc!!!
