american cars are better in quality than the japaneese cars seeing toyota and honda were #1 and #2 in recalls last year and all toyota cares about anymore is becoming bigger than GM and they are pushing their cars out the door as fast as they can and the quality is starting to slip, GM has done just the opposite and are building very quality cars and their turn around is starting to show in their stock prices and customer satisfaction surveys. It's time for this country to waken up and support the american auto industry as the bottom line is the money stays in this country, ask any japaneese person in japan if they would drive an american car and they will tell you no!, they are very loyal to their country unlike us americans, they just laugh at us saying, you might have beat us in world war 2 but we sure are beating you now!.

Its all up to you but the American car has improved a lot over the past few years reliability and options are great. If you are American then buy American and help other Americans At least when you buy GM and Ford the money is spent by American not sent out of the country and spent by someone else.

It's all about your values and priorities. If money is important, then American cars are more affordable. Other than that, all you have to do is to swing by different dealership and test drive Japanese, German, and American cars and compare for yourself. No only the quality of drive, comfort, breaking power, etc. will impress you greatly about Japanese and German cars, also the way you get treated will be different. German and Japanese dealers believe in something called 'customer service' and they spoil you to earn your business. Even if you throw low-ball ridiculous numbers on negotiation, they will not disrespect you. They just say "We can make those numbers on the car you chose." polite and professional (for most of the time). American dealerships on the other hand, make fun of you, tell you that you're wasting their time, tell you that you live in 'laa laa land'...I could not believe how fleet manager and floor manage in two Chevy dealership treated me. So, again, the choice is yours based on the values and priorities. I pay a lot of money for a brand new car so I demand high-class treatment, fair deal, and high quality car that I can enjoy and be proud of every time I drive. Simply, Americans have LONG ROAD AHEAD to learn about TRUE car business. Good luck!

Did you ever hear of loyalty? Have you heard of Pearl Harbor? December 7, 1941? Have you ever noticed how that "superior" Japanese steel is rusting faster on Jap cars than on comparable U.S. made auto's? Are you tall, or big bodied? Do you need to pull a trailer?
If you answered "yes" to any of the above, you are a candidate for a U.S. made truck/ car.

The only reason would be to try and convince Ford, GM, and Chrysler that people really don't want fuel efficient cars.

I think that they're a little cheaper for a few years use which is why people buy it but other than that I will never even think of buying one.
I'll stick to my precious Honda Civic.

not really, you can save a few thousand dollars when you buy one, but you loose several thousand more in depreciation when you try to re-sell it, so there really is no good reason to, I predict that Ford will be remembered like Enron starting in a few years.
