Most of the questions come from people who have never studied astronomy. Unless they are taking it right now and are too lazy to google their own homework.
I know there are several answers here, including myself, with advanced degrees in astronomy and physics.

I am only 13 but i am in all Pre-AP classes, getting ready for AP in High School. Most of the time here, i do know what i am talking about, unlike some random people who quesitions with like 1 word just so they can get their 2 points. I normally take the time to research my answers before i post them... And although i am a amature, i know a lot more about astronomy and physics than my teacher this year, i got to explain some of it to the regular classes, which got me out of Language Arts a lot. :-)

The level of questions goes from really juvenile to fairly advanced, but with a concentration of fairly basic questions.
I am a lifetime amateur and science author.
I would not match my specific knowledge against a professional, but I would guarantee my general astronomy knowledge is as great as most and more than some pros, simply because I have been at it so long.

What better way to learn? I have spent countless hours reading about astronomy and physics and I figured I understood a lot about both subjects, and I do, however a few of my favourite views have been off base and those kind enough to answer my questions in a civilized way have been of great help/.

Most of these questions are posed by junior high or high school students, or by people who know little about astronomy and are curious about something related to space. A lot of questions are poorly phrased and confusing, and frankly, are better answered at expert websites you can find through Google.
I use them as an opportunity to sharpen my writing skills and my own knowledge of the subject.

Most of the people asking questions here are novices.
I could have answered every single rudimentary question posted here when I was 12 and a major amature astronomer.

who we are
why we are here
The best way to find out is to look to the sky and wo/ander

You just asked a question. That question came from you. Other questions come from other people. What about the process was unclear to you?

One person asked if we could answer her question non-scientifically and instead try to really use our heads.
