Ferrets will always have a distinct smell whether they are descented or not. You can bathe your ferrets, and its best to only bathe them 2-4 times a year. If you do it seasonally like during shedding season that really helps. If you bathe them more frequently it can cause them to smell worse because their bodies will produce more smelly oils.
A lot of times when you bathe your ferrets, they smell bad for a couple days and then it goes away, its because they produce more oils in the first couple days after a bath.
You can use a shampoo designed especially for ferrets, or you can use a tear-free baby shampoo as well.
Also to help keep the smell down, make sure you change your ferrets bedding (hammocks/sleepsacks) once or twice a week. That really helps keep the smell down. Also don't use Carefresh bedding or wood shavings. They tend to absorb odors and will make your ferret smell bad. That's the main reason the ferrets in petstores smell really bad.

Ferrets can be bathed, but too often and you will increase the oil production in their skin. It is these oil glands that secrete a musky odor, which is quite natural for ferrets. Descented ferrets only have their anal sacs removed, which decreases the potency of smell when the ferret gets excited and releases the glands. Unspayed and unneutered ferrets secrete a much more potent smell through their skin glands.
The best way to keep the odor down on a ferret is to keep its cage, litter box, and most of all its bedding extremely clean. I changed the bedding daily and this helped tremendously.

All ferrets smell. Actually they say that bathing your ferret can increase the smell because it increases their oils. The smell isn't really coming from the ferret skin but their ears. They build up earwax which in turn builds the smell. Cleaning their ears will help. Here is a website that should help understand more about ferrets, their smells and how to help eliminate a bit of it. Good lucK!

You should only bathe your ferret about once every six months; over-bathing causes your ferret to smell worse, this is because once you bathe your ferret it's skin works harder than normal to gain back the oils he or she lost in the bath.
Are you sure it's your ferret that stinks, and not his or her litter? If you are cleaning your ferret's litter and cage every day, the smell should be minimal.
Is your ferret descented? Keep in mind that male ferrets that are not descented have a much wilder odor than those who are.

Yes you need to give them baths but not too fregiently. You can buy ferret shampoo at most pet stores. You can also use kitten(not cat) shampoo.
