To the person who asked this question, you should be ashamed of your self. No shop with any morals would even talk to you let alone ask you what kind of car do you have. No dealership would even look at you let alone waste there time talking with you. That is dead wrong and illegal in every state in this country. And to include to all of this most all speddos in cars from the early to mid 90's and later will totally be ruined if you try to play around with them. All of them will stop working and your friend will know right away not only that you drove his car but that you tried to hide it. Be a real man and tell your friend the truth and he will respect you and wont be so mad.

well, first of all,are you sure that your friend knows what the exact mileage was when he left it.most people rarely check that,Believe Me. If he does know the exact mileage do this.when your friend arrives distract him with something he really likes or as soon as you see him ask him for a ride somewhere like it's really important and make sure you talk to him all the way to the car and while you are going down the road.If you don't think that will work, then find a backyard mechanic because no licensed mechanic will mess with an odometer,it's easy to change but illegal.

you only think your in trouble by driving your friends car... mess with the odometer and them find out later that you jacked the odometer, then you will truly be in trouble ... as they might also when they got ready to sell the car and a dealer charge them with odometer tampering...
be up front with your friend and tell them instead of trying to hide your mistake..

the real problem here is not the mileage on the car.the real question is the meaning of the word friend.if he is really your friend, tell him the truth, tell him your sorry, and if you are really his friend,he'll accept your apology.if he doesn't,then he really wasn't your friend to begin with.the ball will now be in his court, and it will be up to him, whether or now,he ever lets you use his car again, and i hope you learn something from this experience also.a friend in need,is a friend indeed.one who has a friend does not have one too many!

well im sorry, but youre stuck, it is in fact illegal to set back the odometer and a shop most likely will not do anything about it, so, sry but you're screwed unless you want topay your friend not to kill you, lol

It's agianst the law to tamper with it, and no shop will take the risk of a hefty fine. No, it can't be done.

This is not legal. The odometers are not designed for adjusting and there are serious criminal charges associated with this.
If you think you are in trouble now, tinker with the odometer and see how it is in jail. Don't try it!
