I love gardening, indoor and outdoor. I don't care for the heat so in the hot months I garden outdoors very early or some times very late. I have been known to put flood lights on so I can do some gardening in the cool of the evening. This fall I'm enrolling in a master gardening class so I can do an even better job. I read something interesting about natural eco systems which has somewhat changed my style of gardening. There are less destructive insects in a natural forest because of the plant diversity. It seems that some plants actually attract beneficial insects which protect the area from those greedy flower and plant eating bugs. Lots more to know I'm sure. I can't wait for each day to see how my plants are doing and love taking care of them. Gardening is an act of faith. You put in a seed or a little plant and hope and pray that your work turns out well.

Hi T4. I can't garden as much these days, but i used to be a full time gardener. My favourite thing in the garden is a big Tangelo tree laden with fruit. A Tangelo is a citrus, a cross between a Tangerine and Orange. It will be ready for picking in October. In the house I have plants I've had for 15 years. All are vines of one sort or another. My favourite at the moment is a African violet which flowers profusely. I've discovered something. It likes the dust from burning Incense. I stick an incense stick in the pot and burn it.The dust falls down and fertilises the plant. It grows and flowers madly.Don't know whats in the Incense.Have a good Independence day.

I don't always have good luck growing flowers from seed but I do have quite a lot of houseplants. For me, veggies are easier to grow from seeds. But I do love to garden and often buy annuals to put out in the garden and into large pots.

I'm a certified (and maybe certifiable) plant nut. I'm the one who takes the sad little plant from a co-worker or family member and nurses it back to health. I love to grow vegetables (especially tomatoes), but I also love bulb plants and pansies for the garden. I grew up in Texas, and now that I live in the Pacific Northwest, I'm enjoying growing plants that require cool weather.

As to house plants - I raise African violets as a hobby; at the moment, I only have a couple of dozen thanks to a power-outage disaster last winter, but I've had as many as a hundred and fifty (well-organized on shelves with proper lighting - I show them competitively). I also have bird-of-paradise plants, a night-blooming cereus (very young one), jade plants, rubber plants, "airplane plants," miniature gardenias, and ivy. If it's green and it grows, I love it!

Plant flowers that can take either shade or sun - Impatiens and hostas love the shade and are beautiful flowers.. Plant zinnias in full sun for a colorful show through out the hot summer months. Inside plants are ivy- philodendren-- and some palm trees. Zinnias are beautiful with a back drop of cosmos planted behind them for height- They come in seed packets and if plantd in a bed barely under the worked up soil they will give you a garden to show off all summer. The birds love them for their seeds and the butter flies are drawn to them for color and nectar. Mine are colors of pinks whites and purples.

I do. I grow herbs such as parsley, peppermint, celery and curry leaves for cooking and peppers too.
For some indoor or houseplants, I grow african violets (purple, red white and red) and lovely pink gloxinia.
Happy to share with you with my indoor tropical container gardening.
