Though they have bloomed in the past, they may now be having problems blooming for the following reasons:

1) The weather is too hot. In hot climates you should select earlier bloomers.
2) Competition with other shrubs or tree roots.
3) The roots are water logged from too much rain/irrigation.
4) The pants are under nourished, fertilize.
5) The ground is too dry. Peonies should receive 1" of water a week.
6) Too much shade. Earlier they received more light because the trees had not fully leafed out yet.

They generally have one big blooming season, for a few weeks in late April to June depending on where you live. You will always have s few that don't open, especially the later buds. So if you had a full bloom, your plant is probably fine. I have had mine for over 35 years and this year had over 100 blooms, but still had a few that just didn't do squat. Just cut them off when I cut back the bloom stems so I now have a nice green shrub

The fact that the others bloomed means it gets plenty of sun sometime during the day, so that's not the problem. I have also had buds that came later than the others and didn't bloom. I haven't fertilized mine in years, so I think this is the problem.

I in no way prune the buds off of mine and that they bloom fantastic. some propose reducing of the smaller buds on each stem, leaving the better one. 2 of the themes you could desire to be having is the crowns are planted too deep (would desire to in basic terms be approximately 2 inches deep) and your flowers don't get adequate sunlight. they choose approximately 6 hours of direct sunlight. nonetheless there are exceptions to this rule. Mine are in shade lots of the day and bloom fantastic. one 365 days mine did not bloom very properly. I divided them contained in the fall. They bloomed the subsequent 365 days in spite of the fact that it replaced into few blooms on the flowers. yet they made up for it here 365 days and function been blooming fantastic on account that. My peonies are approximately 30 years old.

I was always told peonies will not open without ants on them. I'm sure it's an old wives tale but I thought of it when you asked.
