I rent and the lot I park on is shared by other renters. I have reason to believe someone is vandalizing my vehicle. Is it illegal to place a camera in my apt. window aimed at my truck for surveilence and possible proof of vandalism?? Thanks

Unless there is a "reasonable expectation of privacy" and no financial gain to be derived, you can videotape anything you want. Just be careful about audio pickups.

I'm not an attorney, but...if the area is public and someone has no reasonable expectation of privacy, you can. Also I'd ask the landlord just as a courtesy...

As long as it's not doing anything sexual.

Yes you can tape it. I have a camera on my Porsche 24/7.

Yes it is, as long as it isn't "purposely" aimed at a window of another house, go for it!

I hope you catch the SOB

Yes.

There is no restriction on videotaping under the circumstances you identified.
