In all seriousness, over 75% of welfare funding goes to single parent households. And there has a been a double digit increase in the amount spent on funding single family households.

"three quarters of this aid flows to single parent families.Children raised without a father in the home are more likely to experience: emotional and behavioral problems, school failure; drug and alcohol abuse, crime, and incarceration. The beneficial effects of marriage on individuals and society are beyond reasonable dispute, and there is a broad and growing consensus that government policy should promote rather than discourage healthy marriage." http://www.heritage.org/Research/Welfare/tst021005a.cfm

This, by you, is a serious question? Anyone who lives on food stamps and is down to diet coke and Twinkies is a couple of Twinkies short of a box. I'd take a wild guess here that you don't know many people on food stamps. For the sake of argument, though I'd say that someone in that position has the usual options. 1. Look for work, and encourage any eligible family members to do the same. 2. Try to get an increase in subsidies or benefits through the state or federal government, though in the current political climate chances of success are slim to none for this one. 3. Dumpster diving/pan handling. 4. Find a rich guy to mug, and teach the kids to pick pockets. 5. Run drugs. I'm sure there are other options, but these are the ones that come to mind.

In some less advanced countries they have this thing called 'child' labour, which deplorable as it may be, does contribute to the starving family's survival.
Take this away and all the then much 'happier' children will starve to death thus reducing the overall problem and salving the conscience of the western civilisations.
In the west all the starving critters have to do is go to a public authority, a church, a politician looking for a cause, the nouveaux riche looking for publicity, etc etc etc......... the opportunities for getting a free hand-out are limitless. We are a nation of aspiring saints, hadn't you noticed!

Not being a lib. places me in position to only speculate as to what they might do. I would think Hillary would confiscate the profits of Coke and Twinkies to fund research as to why these people are not lazy enough to get more food stamp money.

Go to the soup kitchen, get emergency assistance, food pantry etc. BTW these organizations are open to all regardless of political affiliation.
EDIT: I live in a nice area in NJ and the neighboring town is pretty affluent with nice home etc. I was reading an article a few months ago about the local food pantry in this particular town. The director stated that they had seen a increase in the amount of people who are coming in seeking supplemental assistance. It was not the regulars who come in but the residents of this town who live in these nice houses, drive nice cars, etc. Situations happen all the time that are beyond ones control. You cannot judge a book by its cover and you really don't know what goes on in anothers home.

Have you ever spent a week in one of those households? I doubt you have a clue what you are talking about. You blather on and on just to dis the libs. Oh what great fun it is to dis the libs. I am a centerist that sides more with the libs because of the increasingly desparate and mean comments from the cons. Are you guys scared to death of progress? Is this why you are scared of Hillary or Obama? Are you afraid a combination Democratic White House and Congress will actually move forward instead of languishing in stagnation and going backward as we see with the cons?
You people make a lot of assumptions about others whom you have NEVER met or talked to in your lives. You wouldn't lower yourselves to being seen with them would you? You make me sick.

Maybe he/she should pour the coke into a bucket and drown each kid one by one and then commit suicide by stuffing all the twinkies down his/her own throat and choking. That should lower the social security bill and make you happy so how about a REAL question for a change?...preferably one which doesn't give away just how full of hate you clearly are.

If you read up a little on welfare, most of it goes to families in rural areas, whites, who are having a temporary setback because they lost their job or had a medical emergency.
You don't have to be called liberal if you want to help others down on their luck.

hm, i suppose i would try to find a good liberal friend--as they are typically less prone to be duped by the capitalist advertising machine into buying name-brand junk food, ask if they have honest chores to do around the house or if they know of any place looking to hire. if the food stamps ran out only yesterday, i would assume a meal of vegetables or soup or fideo wold have to suffice for today.
c'mon--stop betraying your own ignorance by repeating stereotypes that you probably think are clever--it is just sad.

The go to their local food bank and get bags of free food. Or they can go to a local non-profit organization and get a case manager to help them access the resources that they need. There are plenty of things they can do, all because us liberals care about people who can't get it together themselves and realize that they need help.
