If there is a local college with a theater dept go there and find out the next production and audition for it or find out if there is a local community theater and audition. If that doesn't work, find a one person show and someone to give you direction and perform that in front of an audience. Best of luck!!

Join an acting class in Bristol so you can meet acting students. They can help you with audition information.
It's always better to network with local actors.
Often, if a movie is being in your city, or near it, casting information will be posted for the locals to audition.
Develop your actor's network.
Backstage.com, Actor's Access.com.
The more actors you know, the more you will hear about auditions.

CT = Connecticut?
You can check out actorsaccess.com. It's free to sign up but you have to pay to submit for auditions unless you subscribe to Showfax. You can also see if your state has a film alliance. Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally. For theatre, student films etc. you can go to backstage.com or just for theatre you can try http://www.actorsequity.org/castingcall/... If you find the audition on the Equity site, you still may be able to go, as long as their not taking appointments from equity actor's only :-) On backstage.com you have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying depending on what type of call it is. Most theatres and productions companies have their own site so if you get that info you may be able to get the rest without paying.
Good luck.

The internet. Or the local papers. Search a little. Many theatre groups post upcoming auditions on their websites.

Get a copy of Backstage, it's the most respected place for audition listings. It's like a newspaper, they should carry it at Barnes and Nobel.

You should checkout LACasting.com. They do lists of projects and will send you e-mail updates.
If you have an agent it's free, but I believe that you can pay $50 to post an image and open an account. You pay 5 or 6 bucks a month to be able to submit to anything they send your way.

Contact local theaters to find out where they post auditions, and to find out which classes they recommend.
