He's lucky to even get into the NBA! Does he have ANY CLUE how many people dream of getting the opportunity he has, and he gets upset because he gets drafted by the Bucks. He refuses to talk to reporters about the NBA and in my opinion, is being a HUUUGE rhinocerous turd!

Hey Jianlian, why don't you go back to China if playing for the Bucks is so bad! You'll be forced to join the military and probably get your big ungrateful butt shot off because 6'9" men can't run very fast are pretty hard to miss with a rifle!

I agree, but more to the point is that I think he is getting bad advice from his agents. They think because Yao made it, Yi is a guarantee. There have been a lot better players that never make the grade. If I were his agent, I'd say, lets focus on just making it through the first year. Then, we can start talking smack, just like any other NBA player.

Before you diss him, think about the dingbats behind him.
I don't know if they are Chinese officials or businessmen who probably invested alot of money into this guy to bring more popularity back to China. But then that is really dumb because he can't play defense and he's not that strong, so for his handlers to assume that he deserves to play in a large major city is their stupidity for not understanding the market of USA basketball. So far of all the Chinese players actually making it in the NBA is Yao Ming, all those other guys are gone. Best thing for the Bucks to do is try to make a quality trade for this guy, if not, ban him from playing in the US, and the investment will blow up in those jerks' faces. That will teach them to try to throw their weight around USA sports.

while i dont agree with what yi and his representatives are doing, i can understand it from a business standpoint. he's chinese and he wants to be on a team where theres a large chinese population in the city. you have to admit that its much easier to market yi to the chinese community in LA, or golden state than in milwaukee. with such a high concentration of chinese people in those cities, it is an attractive destination for yi rather than plain old milwaukee. frankly, i think that the strings are being pulled by yi's representatives.

like i said i dont agree with yi and his representatives, but you make it seem like he's the first ungrateful player to ever be drafted. you seem to forget that steve francis wasnt happy to be drafted by the then vancouver grizzlies. this is not the first time in sports where a player was not happy to be on a certain team.

i don't really know what he's like, but he should be thankful that he's in. I do think that he's being managed badly by his agents, so if he's a turd, they are turds along with him.

another thing to consider is maybe if his English isn't that great yet, he might be afraid to say anything to the media. I can't remember how Yao handled the media in his early days, but I do know he used a translator during games in his early years until his English got better.

I agree...Milwaukee Bucks and their fans don't deserve this diarrhea spewing out of his mouth. He consistently doesn't want to talk about his team, upcoming season playing for the Bucks or the NBA to the reporters there...this twig need to close his mouth and be grateful that he is drafted or else Milwaukee might as well trade him to southern state like the Hawks. lol!!

Dude, believe it or not "everyone" is interested in the things YOU are talking about:

1 - Coming to America. Hell, I don't even like leaving San Diego. I used to be a trucker SO I KNOW. I've been everywhere in this country! Everywhere you go "the rules"(for life) are different. So, it is a HUGE move to go to a different country.

Who really wants to go to an unfamiliar place to make a living? I ALWAYS said that if I were to travel internationally I would want to have a working knowledge of the language where I was going. Is it so unreasonable to wish to be able to communicate with people? I believe he hoped to go somewhere that lots of people speak his language. Ask yourself, for $300,000 a year would YOU go to CHINA?? I KNOW I WOULDN'T... Why? I DON'T SPEAK CHINESE. Even if I did, I would be an outsider. I would be an oddity. I would be one of the first accused if something goes wrong. Screw that! I don't need it!

2 - Playing in the NBA. Many ballplayers make a decent living in other countries playing basketball. Just because YOU WISH you could be in the NBA doesn't mean anyone else does.

Maybe he sees too many negatives personally to get to the positives that you are discussing. THERE ARE ALWAYS NEGATIVES associated with a big decision like the one you are discussing. Think about it... He's not asking to go to a team that has a chance to win a championship, he's asking to go to a city where he won't be a TOTAL STRANGER.

3 - People that a have a relatively strong command of the English language do not like talking to reporters. Maybe he doesn't want to give the press any "ammunition" to make him look like a "bad guy", you must admit they are pretty good at doing just that.

Don't just assume this guy is an arrogant idiot. That is such an "American" attitude. The Bucks WERE WARNED! Now, to attempt Machavellian management processes and try "Jedi Mind Tricks" in order to intimidate this guy into going to Milwaukee is a brain dead notion. Certainly it is a blessing to have the option to possibly make tens of millions of dollars no matter how you do it. Maybe he will be content to make millions of dollars in some other league.

You realize that international leagues have guys that make a lot of money too? Drazen Petrovic was considering going home to play just before he died in that car accident. Toni Kukoc was torn as well, he was making millions of dollars playing for Benneton before he went to the Bulls. Maybe you remember Andrew Gaze, he played in the NBA for a very short time after his time a Seton Hall University. He JUST RETIRED from playing basketball in his native Australia.

http://basketball-reference.com/players/g/gazean01.html

There are TONS of guys that WILL NOT come here to play college because the see the American Basketball in decline. Also defecting are many of the great basketball coaches in this country because too many American players aren't listening to them.

Look, don't think America is the "Greatest Place on Earth" because it is freaking "Disneyland" all the way from New York to Los Angeles. America has plent of hard working people in it. At the same time, America has plenty of weirdos, sickos, losers, drug pushers, drug addicts, drive by shooters, knuckleheads, freaks, bozos, ignoramuses, tweakers, stick up men, crooked cops, neanderthals, schizophrenic people walking the street, troglodytes, pimps, hustlers, convicts, prostitutes and just overall dummies, OH I almost left out RACISTS can't forget them... Do you want to have to figure out who is who if you don't have the background to do that? He already knows all those things where he is now.

America just happens to be one of the best places to live in the World by "default". Europe (France, Spain, England, Portugal and Belgium) and later on the United States have spent the better part of 400 years shooting, colonializing, enslaving, manipulating and otherwise sticking its collective nose into everyone else's business for the West' own benefit while insuring that many other groups of people would be deprived of its basic needs. Please do not try to act like this isn't the truth. Everyone from the Spanish Conquistadors and explorers to the English did an excellent job of noting their own foul history along the way.

It is a typically American attitude to get offended when people don't want to come to this country. Another typical American attitude is to get offended by people that would do ANYTHING just to shovel crap in this country. The former attitude is taken because that person is seen as someone that can somehow benefit "Us" in some way. The latter attitude is taken because that person is perceived as a burden but he shovels crap. I don't know about you but I don't like shoveling "crap", picking fruit or cleaning office buildings. I've done at least two of these things before, it's overrated.
