The author Clive Cussler writes some very good books. The theme of all his books are James Bond like with a nautical background. Mr Cussler describes and develops all his characters well from the admirable and charismatic through to the absolute megalomaniac b@stard. Clive often inserts himself into his stories as a minor character; as improbable, implausible and sometimes unrealistic (but always interesting) as his stories are, It's always the minor part he plays that makes his book stick in my mind.
Well worth reading any of his books.

Try any book by Clive Cussler, his characters Dirk Pitt and Al Geordano are great. The movie Sahara was nothing like the book. I the book Dirk and Al are NOT treasure hunters, there is no gold in the ship, only the body of Abe Lincoln who was kidnapped before an imposter was shot by Booth. Try "Inca Gold" it was the one that hooked my husband on reading

The most engaging and cleverly drawn characters in modern popular fiction are in the Fizz and Buchanan series by Joyce Holms. Both Fizz and Buchanan are good people but show it in different ways. Very funny books.
