Ok... so I just found out that my mother in law hates my sons name... (he's 5 now) she just let me know that she does not approve and thinks I should have used a family name...she wanted my son to be named "Raymond".....uh, I was just not ready for that... I named him Xavier. So what do you think?
Xavier or Raymond.. which if any do you like. Her argument for not liking Xavier is.. .it's too hard to spell, too hard to say, and too hard to shorten into a nickname.....
of course I could care less about what she thinks, but it did get me thinking... how many out there honestly do not like the name Xavier.

Xavier, it's a nice name. It's very rare. my name is Daphne and that's not very common either. I think your son would like his name. There are 43589234 other Raymonds in the world.
Besides, Raymond sounds like an old person's name.

I'm sorry but I really hate Xavier....Raymonds not much better but I don't like the Xavier at all. it sounds kinda like a vampire show name....like your next son should be damian (which to me sounds demonic) or something like that. And if you didnt have it spelled I prolly would have a hard time figurin out how it goes. I really don't mean to offend, but thats not really on my top names list!

To tell the truth I think Xavier is a unique name. You should stick with it and your son will be rememebered uniquely. Explain to your mother in law that you chose that name for your son and that she should accept it in any and every way possible. I think the name is cool. Go for it!
PS: X man could be a nickname lol!

i love the name Xavier...its soo unique...and being unique is great. Forget about what your mother in law said and stick with Xavier.....and anyways your son is probably already used to the name Xavier so if you changed it when you called his name he probably wouldnt respond to you...lol....so keep his name the way it is....dont ever change it....i love that name. I like Xavier sooo much better than Raymond! Don't worry about what she said...she got to name her kids what she wanted...this time it was your turn and you did what was right for you! Don't let her or anyone else make you second guess yourself!
