In the movie, I love it when Gimli whispers to Aragorn as Gimli is about to be tossed to the drawbridge during the battle at Helm's Deep, "Don't tell the elf!"
My favorite book character is Tom Bombadil. It was sad not to see him in the movie as he is the most unique character in the books.

I've been obsessed with the books since I was a small child and find parts of the movies leaving something to be desired. (especially scenes with arwen doing anything other than sitting next to her father in rivendell and two towers in general) but that's neither here nor there.
Favorite line from the movies - "Many that live deserve death, some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death and judgement. Even the very wise cannot see all ends. My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play for good or evil before the end. The pity of bilbo may rule the fate of many."
Books - When Eowen and Merry are on the field of Gondor facing the Sorceror King of Angmar (The ring wraith king). When he tells "Dernhelm" that No mortal man may Hinder him. And "Dernhelm" starts laughing. That was the perfect scene. That and the conversation with the Mouth of Sauron...book version...not movie.

I love Gandalf. Smeagol was one of my favorites to (not gollum) I love the scene where he calls Sam a stupid fat hobbit, the scene with Gandalf and the Balrog, the scene where Gandalf tells Pippen about "A far green country", and the scene with Sam and Frodo, "Do you remember the Shire Mr. Frodo?". And the scene where Pippin sings. I LOVE THE LORD OF THE RINGS! Scenes with Bilbo and Gandalf (both Ians!) were awesome, too!

I really like the scene where Gandalf the Grey confronts the Balrog and says those special words 'YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" and strikes his staff upon the bridge across the chasm in Moria - just sends tingles up my spine. Whether in the book, radio play or film
And I have a soft spot for the pathos ridden Gollum

Oh. How I love that movie. I've seen it many times. No I'm no nerd,. But I can't stop loving that movie. I'm not totally sure about which charector is my favorite. I like them all. Aragon is neat. Gandolf rocks. Sam is funny. The two boys who follow them are adorable.

I like when the Steward of Gondor goes crazy and pours oil over his still alive son to set him on fire and ends up dying instead.

I think Aragorn is the coolest character. My favorite scene with him is when everyone is gathered in Minas Tirith for his coronation and he tells the ringbearers "You bow to no one."
