If someone gives you a gift, don't be picky and question the gift, just accept it.
I think it started years ago. If someone gave you a horse, a gift horse, it was considered bad manners to look in the horses mouth to check the teeth and gums, to see if the horse was healthy. You were to accept the gift and you were not to "Look a gift horse in the mouth."

It means if someone gives you something big or expensive then you should expect it to have a problem or two but not go out of your way looking for them.
Example -someone actually did give me a horse, he bites and has slightly odd back legs ( so what I still love him )
