isn't it about time we ditched "God Save The Queen" as our national anthem, after all it's an affront to those who do not believe in God. I think "Land Of Hope And Glory" stirs up more emotion and pride. What do you think? What would you like to hear as our anthem?

Personally, being Scottish I think out anthem should be Flower of Scotland, England's should be Land of Hope & Glory.

In Canada God Save the Queen has not been adopted as the Royal Anthem by statute or proclamation, however it has come to be used as such through convention, and is sometimes sung together with O Canada at public events.[19] In Australia, the song has standing through a Royal Proclamation issued by Governor-General Sir Ninian Stephen on 19 April 1984.[20] For modern Commonwealth Realms it has become analogous to the American presidential anthem Hail to the Chief.

Commonwealth nations using God Save the Queen as a Royal Anthem include:

Antigua and Barbuda
Australia
Bahamas
Belize
Canada
Grenada
Jamaica
New Zealand
Saint Kitts and Nevis
Saint Lucia
Solomon Islands
Tuvalu

It is also the melody to the United States patriotic hymn "America" (better known by its first line, "My Country, 'Tis of Thee"),

Seems like everyone kinda likes it the way it ..
Why go and muck it up?

Land of Hope and Glory is the English National Anthem (like Flower of Scotland is the Scottish etc) and the celtic fringes of the realm would not approve of that. God save the Queen is a majestic and powerful song that is easy to remember and reflects on the country as great and powerful. To replace it with a lesser known song (that is harder to remember) would make us look as silly as the spanish (who have no words in their anthem) standing mumbling to each other at the beginning of international sport events.

I also like Land of Hope & Glory, although God Save the Queen is traditional it is getting a bit outdated but I think tradition should prevail

If "God save the Queen" is an affront to those who don't believe in gods, what are you going to do about "God who made thee mighty, make thee mightier yet" in "Land of Hope and Glory"?

t_o_n_i_montana ... (gee I found this in ALL ENGLISH QUESTIONS .. NOT ALL AMERICAN QUESTIONS .., and IT IS in the ROYALTY CATEGORY, THE USA DOESN'T HAVE ROYALTY .. so THINK about what you wrote .. ya silly TWIT!!)

Ok .. Given that GOD SAVE THE QUEEN is also sung by the Commonwealth Nations ( as she is our queen too) when she visits ... I think the UK should be able to claim Land Of Hope And Glory as their anthem and retain GOD SAVE THE QUEEN to be played when she is present ( AFTER Land of Hope and Glory)

,Scotland the brave, you could change Scotland, to Britain or British Just a thought.
I say that because some of the verses, in God save the Queen are not very nice to the Scots. Anyone agree?

I'm not British but I am an allie of the Queen, a portuguese man. I am very fond of the Queen and indeed I would kill and die for her. Everytime I see her picture, I kneel, but I must say, at this moment I feel like killing you.
What you just proposed is treason and punishable with death.

God Save The Queen!

And for you all angry mob of british atheists:
Give it up! God Exists! Period!
