Because people are stupid enough to accept all these big brother laws as long as they are "for your own good". Goes to show, people don't appreciate their freedom until they lose it.

Because our current government has made vary large efforts to gain power and influence over us. Hence the suspension of habious corpus and the patriot act. Not only do they tell us how to act and what to think, but they can arrest and torture anybody they want to for as long as they want to with out ever having a trial or proven this person guilty of any crime...

Secondary function of government after protection of property is public safety. So that is part of their job to inform and make rules that help us live longer. As for property, if you are insured, you are insurance company's property. If you have paid up life insurance, they would probably like to see you in jail where their investment is kept healthier than on the outside!

well I suppose after feminists and other misguided individuals broke down the family unit with such things as you dont need two parents, and they said you cant punish your kid and if you do some government agency will just take them away from you, then when kids got out of control and a large amount of parents were inept then well... I guess someone has to do it ( be the parent )
