I am going to be shadowing a veterinarian for a day and I am very excited. I want to make sure I learn as much as I can because I want to be a veterinarian. Does anyone know some good questions I should make sure to ask or a website with a list of questions. I used to always see them but now, when I need them, I can't find any.

Ask the vet how much they get paid for and ask what are the requirements to be a vet.

Lucky you! Hopefully you'll get to see some cool stuff, not just boring routine things in the consult room.

If you get to see any operations, ask all about what's going on with those. Even neuter ops are pretty cool to watch the first few times, you can ask exactly how they're done, how they locate the uterus etc.

I'd take the opportunity to ask what the vet's job is like day-to-day, what his/her favourite aspects of the job are - and ask how stressful they find it, that could be an interesting answer! Also ask what vet school is like, bet that'd provoke a few stories!

Ask what you need to do to become a vet, if you don't already know.

Also, if you get to talk to any of the vet nurses/techs, ask them what their job is like!!

I would ask what is their favorite animal to work with, or about how many animals come in a week/month, What has been the worst case you have had to deal with. Good luck =)

If you don't have the owner telling you the symptoms where would you start to make the correct diagnosis?
