Hi all, I live in NY city in a 4th floor apartment that is long and narrow. The only way to get air flow to keep my home cool during the summer is to keep the windows open. This is a must, but the problem I have is my two year old is always trying to look too far out the window. I have caught him at the last minute a few times almost all the way out the window. Do they make an electric mat or some sort of child collar that will shock him slightly when he gets near the window?

They do make a device that covers the windows, like bars, which can be opened in the event of a fire. They also make screens that are tough. If the window is a sash, you can get a screen that fits inside the window - it spreads to the inside of the track, then you close the window down on it. See what your local home center has (or ask your landlord).

There is also a mat they have for in front of a crib which detects weight - maybe that could be adapted. Check out a baby store for that, maybe a home center.

Don't you have screen's in your windows?
Perhaps see if your landlord would put safty bars on the outside along with a screen in EVERY window if there isn't already
and NO there is no shock collar for children that is just as inhumane and abusive as the one's for dogs
Make sure you Tell them NO they can't do that and be consisit with it
If your able to put baby gates up around the windows that would help too

Dude- he's a kid not a dog! Go get wall mountable grating and put it over the bottom 1/2 of your windows that way you can keep them open while not endangering your child.

Fruit Loop.

I semi-agree including your aunt. I grew up while not something replaced into toddler evidence. In my adventure it fairly is impossible to totally toddler evidence any domicile. some young ones can get into belongings you will possibly in no way even think of might interest them. I unquestionably have a three yo grandson who I believe thoroughly on account which you could clarify issues to him. My SIL has a 2 yo granddaughter I affectionately consult with through fact the "wrecking group!" the toddler has no worry and an a** of leather-based. along with her all you're able to do is placed each thing up out of attain and pray she in no way learns to climb. So i think of the superb physique of recommendations is the blended physique of recommendations. get rid of the apparent supplies of danger yet then shop an intensive eye on the toddler and each time they mess with some thing they shouldn't tell them no and faucet their hand or butt.

no although i think they should at times my best guess is either only slightly open your windows and put the stops on them or move your furniture away from the window sligtly so your child cant reach the windows.

try the expanding gates that you can get from walmart, or anywhere else they sell baby stuff. they work pretty good, or you could just buy a window unit AC then you can keep the other windows closed.

Barbed wire.

It's cheap, and no way do you want to spend more than you absolutely have to on stuff for child safety.

Plus, the electric mats don't work -- just ask Eric Clapton...
