Do you see how that is now sheer hypocrisy, as the president himself gives amnesty to lawbreakers? Should we commute the future sentences and punishments of all illegal aliens? Or is that reserved for the president's cronys?

If going ffom 2 1/2 years in prison to 0 years in prison isn't amnesty, I'm not sure what is. I'm confident his fine will not be too big a burden on him and his supporters.

perjury, making false statements, obstruction of justice. At least that's what he was convicted of. . .

Does that help?

Richard P:
Actually, Bush has pardoned 113 people as of last month.

I'm no math wizard, but I'm pretty sure that 113>0.
What does my question have to do with Clinton, anyway?

Reserved for Cronies.....duh!

You're confusing what Mr. Bush does with public opinion. I doubt that you would find a single person (other than Mr. Bush or Libbeys friends/relatives) that would let him off.

It's Mr. Bush that also wants to give amnesty to the illegals, but that is not what public opinion would have him do. Mr. Bush did not clear his actions with any of the public.

Public opinion is why the amnesty bill failed. The difference between Mr. Bush (and his 'cronies') and the public is that they can afford to be generous. The rest of us can't.

No, you see Libby, did what he was told. He aided the administration, albeit illegally.
I don't condone his actions at all, but it appears to this administration, that you must be a cronie or suffer for it.
Case in point, the border agents!
Where is their Pardon?
I wish Bush's nightmare would end now!
God help us if Hillary or Obama or even Rudy are elected...
Either way, we are all screwed.
America will be no more
(See SPP.gov. North American Union agreement)

Ohh, by the way, the illegal immigration cloture failed from Conservative talk radio and not Democratic or Liberal Media.
Conservatives made the cloture vote die and saved America, not the Democrats or Liberals, THANK GOD !!!

Apples and oranges. There was no amnesty for Libby. $250,000 is not amnesty. Maybe you are actually right. We should do the same for the illegal aliens as Bush did for Libby, let them all pay a $250,000 dollar fine and we'll call it even.

It doesn't really matter now does it? Since the only bill on the table to do something about illegal aliens was denied, Congress will not act on this issue again for another couple of years.

Calling an illegal alien an "immigrant" is kind of like calling a drug dealer an unlicensed pharmacist.

Just FYI, it was Bush who was pushing for blanket amnesty.

Alas, the President did not recently grant "amnesty". He commuted part of someone's punishment. That's not quite the same now, is it?

More directly to your question, however, we should deport all of the illegal aliens, not commute their future sentences and punishments.

Well, history shows that EVERY President has pardoned people who are close to them in some way. It is a right of the President to do so as he sees fit. I'm still not clear about what law Libby broke.

The difference between Scooter Libby and illegal immigrants is

1) Scooter Libby is a US citizen, illegals are not

2) Scooter Libby is a US citizen, illegals are not.

Do I need to give a 3rd reason?

Oh I get it, you're transposing the COMMUTING of a sentence (that will be overturned on appeal anyways) to the illegal alien debate. That's almost clever. Too bad it was on the Daily Show already... How about we try for a little originality, not just regurgitate what other leftists have said...

Republicans never will admit any wrong. That is fact. I am a Democrat, we think that when you do the crime you should do the time.. Impeachment will bring out more on this act of treason. Impeachment and investigations by Congress will start in Sept. or Oct., 2008, just before elections..
