I got my oil changed at my local garage, not the Honda dealer, and they said that the dealer has to turn off the maintenance light (a little wrench) that is supposed to remind me to change the oil....

1) Put the key in the ignition without turning it.
2) Press and HOLD down the trip/odomoter button on the gauge cluster.
3) Turn the ignition key to the ON position (#2 position) without starting the car, continue to hold the reset button.
4) Hold the reset button until the light goes out - approx. 10 seconds.

As far as I know, this procedure should work for almost any Honda vehicle.

You have some options here. The best thing to do would be to take it into an Autozone. They will run the diag on it for free. The code should be able to tell you why it came on. Fix the problem and it will go away. More than likely it is your O2 sensor in the cat. That is an expensive part to replace. If that is the case you can pull that sensor and clean it and put it back in. Remove the battery cable and leave it off for a bit and that will reset the computer. It will make the light go off until it is tripped again. Your best bet is to replace the bad part. Good luck.

hmm my Honda Civic has a small square indicator in the bottom of the meters on the dashboard; i just have to insert my own key into the little opening next to it and that makes the color change back to green. i have had to do that when i go to non-Honda places for maintenance. don't know if it's the same for yours.

Your owners manual will tell you to hold in your odometer reset button for thirty seconds or so before starting your car. WHILE holding in the button start your car and release the button a few seconds after the car starts.

Look in your owners manual, it should be in there. The shop you had do the oil change was just being lazy.

My car (Pontiac) has that feature too and sometimes the lube guys either don't know how to turn it off, or they forget. I'll bet you can find detailed instructions in your owner's manual.
