The ocean! living by the beach is so nice; the air smells so nice and fresh with a nice seabreeze. It's also never too hot or too cold, at least where I live; 8 blocks from the Pacific in San Diego. And just looking out over the ocean is so nice and takes your mind off things. In some parts of the country, like Southern CA, you can be at the beach and in the mountains in like an hour.

I am sure I will have people disagree with me but IMHO, mountains. The scenery changes throughout the day, and there is so much you can do by way of adventure. To mean the ocean would get boring after a while.
Which mountains? I'm in love with Arizona, every square inch of it.

Its a personal choice. I feel more closed in in the mountains but maybe that is because I was born and raised near the ocean.

Why not live where the mountains meet the sea? There is nothing more beautiful than the waves breaking against the rocks. (Maine on the East coast or Washington State or Oregon on the West coast) If that is not possible, go for the beach!!

I would love to live by the ocean. I would love to be on a hill so I can see out over it. I would love to be able to watch the weather change right before my eyes. It's a site. I'm from the Midwest so the ocean is a lovely place.

I moved from Ontario to the East Coast of the U.S. about 3 years ago. I could never leave the ocean now. My answer is ocean.

I'd say both. I lived in Gig Harbor, WA for awhile, and could have Mt Rainier, and the ocean. But I'm more mountains, with big lakes. they offer less people, and cooler weather if you like that.

I love mountains. I believe West Virginia has a motto that says "Mountaineers are Free."

Why not have both. Here in Southern California we are a few miles from the beach and a few miles from the mountains.

I love the mountains.. I love hiking, mountain biking, snowboarding, snow showing, skiing, rock climbing..
Depends on your personality..
Seems most people that live by the beach like to relax more than they are adventurous..
