Laura Bush is not planning on leaving the president. It makes for entertaining fiction.

The president entertained Russian President Putin at Kennebunkport up in Maine. They discussed issues such as what to do about Iran, and Russian objections to NATO expansion and plans to put in new systems in the Czech Republic and Poland against missiles. Russia sees it as a threat directed against them.

The president is also licking his words over the recent immigration debacle where his proposals went down the drain, largely because his own party abandoned him.

Finally, the president is figuring out how the situation in Iraq can be improved before September when new votes will be taken as to whether the current mission will stay funded and General David Petraeus informs all of us what is going on.

Generally, however, the president is taking some time off for a vacation.
