The government isn't the solution to our problems. The government IS the problem.

Lot of answers here, but...

Watergate - Scandal that only had to do with campaign plans of the upcoming election, which was a big lever for democrats to get into office.

9-11 - Mere coincedence that profits were made from the destruction of the towers, and that profits have been made from oil from the middle-east and has destroyed our National balance.

U.F.O's - It is most likely that UFO's were actually created during the first world war and was mastered as a technical aviation structure which was "Intimidating".

In the course of history, it has never been in the interest of any country to shoot down a foreign craft in which they believe is "Extra-Terrestrial"... I guess for fear of the whole planet, for fear of an object not really being there and a bomb tumbling to the Earth at some unknown location, (could be as little or big of a thought or fear).

So pure secrecy and advanced technology could keep a hold on the economy by pure technology overpowerment.
"Disclosure" of scientific research is necessary in the next era of technologies including, aerospace, cloaking and/or stealth technologies, aviation, chemical and thermochemical physics and nanotechnology. Also micro-biology merged with biotoxicology and normal toxicology.

Healthcare is a drop in the bucket compared to the other secrets the United States is keeping from us. Do you believe the President is even necessary?

It's not stupidity it's arrogance. In order to control the Presidency you would need a 3/4 majority in the Senate and/or the House. That is why George Bush is getting away with so much the republicans controlled both throughout most of his presidency now the democrats control both by a slim majority. The only thing they can do with a simple majority is vote down his new policies not the ones that have already passed.

Yes. This is why they come out with false threat levels to make Americans scared of terrorist actions. And it often works! No Child Left Behind....thats a way of making Americans even dumber. Health Care?? Forget it! More money should be invested in high corporations and oil securities and useless construction of 3rd world countries! Oh and the biggest of all...Trickle Down Economics, yeah we know the large green backs the large corporations get ALWAYS trickle down to the middle man....So, yeah the Govt thinks we are stupid. The reason why is obvious. Because we are! We are so nieve into believing BS. Think I am wrong?? Just look at all the people who voted for Bush for his second term.

The current American administration does seem to have a lot of contempt for the American populace, and that contempt is justified. He got in the first time due to a weird set of circumstances, but the second time around, he got a majority (of the minority of Americans who choose to vote).

The English historian Lord Acton is famous for saying, "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely." He's right.

However, some of the problems that bother you are more of human sloth, stupidity, and lack of thinking ahead; the American health care system (there's a contradiction in terms: "American Heatlh Care System") being one example.

Sure they do. Have you ever heard a politician answer with a yes or no.?? They think we are too stupid to understand those two words so they rant on about a different subject other than what the question was about. If you ask a politician what day it is, I will assure you that they can't answer you with one word. I call that the Lawyer Mentality. In other words, you are too dumb to understand so I will either explain it to you in detail or, I will give you an answer that does not pertain to your question. Yes my friend, we are stupid.

the public is stupid. our public is one of the most ignorant societies around. walk down the street and ask people questions about the government our political ideology and people have no clue. That is why people have a problem with politicians, because most people are too ignorant to make sense of the giagantic political machine of the US

I dont think that they view us as stupid. As evidence, I site the vast propoganda system. Policy planners view us as a population that need be controlled, so much manufacturing of opinion and perception is prevalent. If they didn't respect our intelligence, not so much effort would go into controlling our thoughts, political discourse, opinion. They respect our intelligence, it is a formidable enemy of their illegitimate authority.
