I believe an only child would face a lot of pressure, more than if the child had a sister or brother to share the pressure of being a child in the world. And as for sharing itself, more about the subject is learned and more easily accepted.
An only child, I imagine would be like someone looking into a mirror, and seeing his reflection only as a playmate.
Or someone who'd be very close to him when times are difficult to comprehend . . resolve even.
If there are two children, then the mirror would not be necessary, the child may be able to look around him, at a difficult time and find the closeness, intimacy, diversity of view, he or she may need in a sister or brother when a comparison or contrast may be at hand to take on.
What worries me about bringing children into the world, is that we, human beings, unless we hurry and repair all we have nearly destroyed, as far as our planet goes, WILL leave our children a terrible legacy to correct.
And this would be an awesome responsibility and task.
But, as we all know, life goes on and we go on and our children will follow after that . . each time however being more difficult to deal with the huge mess we seem to make out of much.
That's what I worry about and feel sorry for the next generation to take on.

Well, I'd like to have 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, when I get older... a lot of only children complain about being lonely... with 4, two of each gender, the boys would have a brother, and the girls would have a sister.

I'd be happy with only one. With the economy how it is today (rising prices w/ no rising pay rates) I'm starting to think having any more would get too expensive. Plus nerve-wise I'm not sure I could handle more than one child...as much as I like kids. A bunch of my friends have kids that mine could play with anyways in order to be able to socialize.

I have three kids and wish I could have had more! But I can see where people can lead fulfilling happy lives without any children. I think this is completely dependent on each person and what makes them happy.

personaly id like 2-3 just so they have each other to depend on if anything bad happens and so they wont be supper spoiled plus i learned that children with brothers and sisters relate better to boys and girls in the real world ♥ just my opinion !

I love kids and being around them.I don't want only one kid,I want at least three.I think it's also better for them to be more because they always have someone to talk to,to discuss about their problems or seek help and understanding.

Depends on your liking...They are awfully expensive, one is easier to handle, but more than one, they have someone to play with.
