I have an idea for a short story (could become bigger than that). It involves a future war between China and Japan that involves both Koreas and is told from the Chinese and Japanese prespectives. The casus belli would be the assassination of a Chinese diplomat in South Korea by a radical Japanese terrorist sect, which brings about an attack by North Korea on the American garrison on the peninsula. Japan keeps America outof the war by allying with South Korea and penetrating North Korea, which brings China into the conflict. It results in the invasion of Japan, which is then repulsed and results in the invasion of China by Japan which becomes the 3rd Sino-Japanese War. This story takes place in the near future (maybe 50 or so years from now). I am curious as to who would read this story.

In response to the fourth answerer: this story will not involve a lot of politics, but will deal a lot with the battles involved. It also shows personal beliefs from the Japanese and Chinese forced to fight in the war.

Sounds like you know your stuff. I actually would give it a chance if it was told from the perspectives of young soldiers and got a little more in-depth and personal. You know, like a character grieving the loss of a loved one because of the war. It's a complex plot, and I think for me to read it, it would take an attractive book cover, but I wish you luck!

I never put down anyones ideas however to me this sounds very boring however to people in politics, interested in it or in military then they might read it, however I would never pick up a story like that unless it had like a personal subplot and excellent writing with good descriptions and good transitions to the personal subplot. Best of luck.

I don't think you should be asking this question. You should be writing for you. The question you need to ask yourself is, "Would I read this story?" and if you would, then you should write it, and if it's written well, then people will read it.
