Ask you son where all of the interesting sites in the area are located and start visiting. Be sure to take in all the good stuff and enjoy the food of the area.
This is a continuing education in this life. Breathe it in.
The UK has many things for Seniors and there are local Senior Citizen areas. I would suggest that you find them and then go. This is another way to enjoy yourself, meet new people and find out about the culture.
Have a great time!

Some suggestions:
1) Get involved in community volunteering,
2) Take a hobby class such as drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, hiking, water aerobics, etc.
3) Go to a movie and take yourself to a new place for a meal or snack
4) Locate any Senior centers in the area to see if they have any programs available so you can meet new people and have someone to talk to or join a card game, do some exercising, etc.
Good luck to you.....
