The art of being a spy is the art of not being noticed; plain and simple and then collecting information.
Then you have to specialize in the task that you want to be a spy for. If you want to work for the CIA then you should learn a foreign language. If you want to work for the military then learn Farsi, the major language of the Middle East. If you want to spy on your brother then learn his habits and how to follow him.
Being a spy is not the glamours action packed escape of the James Bond films. In fact he gets into all of his adventures because he fails the first law of being a spy; he gets noticed. In fact his usually mode of operation is to find the big bad criminal and do something to get noticed by him, to make him mad, and then to watch and react to his reactions and attempts to get revenge.
Spies make notes and keep records they check the little details and keep records. Then they check all those records to see what is wrong, what is different. The constant observation tells them what the people are doing and the little differences noticed tell them when they are lying or trying to hide something.
Spies watch other people. They watch to see if they are doing something interesting or novel and new. If so then they record it and give it to their employer so she can duplicate or use the information. As part of watching spies listen; they bug telephones, they over hear conversations and they observe what people are saying. Again they record and report.
So what kind of spy do you want to be? You can use a glass cup placed against the door or a wall to listen to what is going on on the other side, or you can use special, an expensive, equipment to do the same thing. You can watch what the person is doing or you can use cameras or even spy satellites to do the same thing. The technology doesn’t make the spy, the person makes the spy. It is a question of how they use the technology and how resourceful they are.
There is a school of training called spy craft. This tells spies how to use dead drops to pass information, how to follow a suspect or, or how to make a brush pass; the actual activities and physical actions of a spy. But, most of them take these classes and rarely use them. Few spies have contact with agents, instead they are watching, listening, and taking all the recorded information trying to put it together to see what the person being spied on is doing. This is the same thing you do if you are spying on a country or a terrorist cell, or your little sister.
The question you ask is too broad. What do you want to spy on and what do you want to learn? Once you answer that question then you will know how to do what you want to do. If you want to learn if your big sister is going to a party next weekend then you can listen to her through the wall. You could read her diary; you could listen in on her phone calls. You could interview her friends and see what they are doing, or better yet you could interview her friend’s family member to see what they are doing. But, all of this is theory until your sister actually goes to the party. She could be planning instead on having a sleep over or going to a study session. So the most important thing that you need to do is to catch the person in the act.
For this cameras are invaluable. A single picture of your sister at the party shown to your parents could be enough to get her grounded. You could get witness testimony, but witnesses are horribly wrong. They don’t remember things the same way, they have different points of view, and rarely do their stories agree. Sometimes they THINK they see something or sometimes they just lie. A spy is trained to not make those mistakes. They observe, and get a good description. They look for details that describe the person or the event, details that make the person or event unique. A suspect wearing jeans is very common, but if the jeans have a torn right pocket then you have narrowed it down. So once again it comes down to observation, and you have to do this observation while not being seen or noticed. If your little sister sees you spying on her then her actions will be changed. She may even change her plans so you have to do it all without being seen.

What an ambition for a little girl. Think about what it will mean to be a SPY, as someone who tells secrets about others and if caught will probably be jailed or killed. Is that what you want? Or are you just fascinated by the movie spies that always turn out right in the end? If you are still serious, do this; find out what it takes to learn police work, then study law enforcement. If you graduate try to get into the FBI, CIA or other government law agency.

My dear little friend... do not talk about being a spy. Any more. Such talk is not going to do any good but maybe place you in danger.
Mon avis, my advice, to you, is to study hard, honor your mother and your father, learn another language or three, be very proficient in mathematics and science if you can. If not, dont' worry. Be very very good at something. Be the best in your field.
If you are a business woman, be the best business woman you can be. If you become a teacher, be the best most caring teacher. If you become a dancer, be the best. Yet never try to be so good that you hurt yourself or someone else.
A good spy above all does not attract attention to herself. Remove any reference to your being or wanting to be a spy. Don't act like James Bond or some Hollywood version of this idea. Read about the master spies, the best in their trades. Read about Dolly Madison, Nathan Hale, John Le Carre' and others. Read about the ones who were caught, and how they got caught. Don't let yourself get caught. But don't play at being a spy. This is perhaps the most dangerous or one of the most dangerous games ever played.
Learn values. Learn honesty, love, courage, generosity, humility, loyalty, compassion, and more. Read about Buddhism, the early Christianity and Christianity today as it stands to be, not what it fails to do but how Jesus would have us act. Read the Quran (Koran) and listen to other people. Learn to listen. Learn to watch. Learn discipline: to be safe, to remember, to keep secrets, to survive, to protect. Let your slogan be as the police, "To serve and protect."
Let your guardian angel work with St. Michael, learn from the life of the archangels especially Michael, to bear and use arms in defense of your life, liberty, and your family and specially the weak, the defenseless, orphans, widows, the enabled-differently, those who are to busy to defend their selves. Defend animals and the life.
Do not hurt, if you can help such. Do not disrespect life. Do not contaminate your surroundings. Respect life, respect earth, water, fire, wind. Love G-d.
Copy these instructions and then memorize them. This message will self-destruct in a very short time. Peace out!

Spying is a serious business!... It requires more, much more than just reading abut it!... age and experience, I say are at the top of the list... But if you insist there are many areas that will give you a good preparation... First you have to continue in school, finish high school and go on to college... See... to be a good spy you have to be at the top of your class, you have to be smart!... that will required that you learn as much as possible about everything. Mat, foreign languages, at least 4 (fluently) History, political science, geography and science.
Good Luck!
