Pete Rose had 44 in 1978 with the Reds, it tied Willie Keeler of the Baltimore Orioles who also had 44 back in the 1890s (1986-1987 to be exact.)
I don't think it will be broken any time soon. Eventually it will, but it would have to be by somebody amazing. 56 games with a hit is hard, even for the best. It will be fun to watch it happen if it ever does.
P.S.
I'm and Angels fan too, Garret Anderson never had a 39 game hitting streak, but he did have a 28 game streak. (sorry not 7, the website I saw was wrong, I was gonna say, cause Garret owns!)

Pete Rose followed up Dimaggio's streak with one of 44 games, tying Willie Keeler for the second longest streak. Paul Molitor also had one of 39 games.
By far, the most likely to come close is Suzuki, he doesn't walk very often and has speed.

probably yet in at present's era issues are diverse. decrease back in Dimaggio's day, scorers might desire to destroy out with giving hits on performs that would desire to have been errors, fielders have been slower and not as gifted and maximum critically, pitchers have been actual pitching to him every time because of the fact they had to work out the streak pass on longer and did no longer want to be the pitcher to end the streak (i'm no longer making this up, its on the Ken Burns Baseball historic previous DVD series). This contrasts with at present's sport the place pitchers will hit gamers to end their streaks and have a lots greater effective concentration on triumphing the sport somewhat than letting somebody else get a checklist. Dimaggio lived interior the suited era to get the streak and in actuality a .270 hitter at present in all probability might have hit a streak in simple terms as long as that in the event that they had the posh of dealing with the pitching and protection that he did.

I believe it was Pete Rose at 44 games. It would take a fleet-of-foot left handed hitter with great ability to have any kind of chance at all. This player would have to have the ability to beat out many infield hits and not strike out much. It sounds a lot like Ichiro to me.

Which streak? He had a very long one in the Pacific Coast League as a member of the San Francisco Seals.

Pete Rose hit safely in 44 consecutive games in 1978.
Ichiro could break it, and so could someone like Jose Reyes or Pujols.
TRUST ME--IT WILL BE BROKEN. All records eventually fall.
