No
Humans did NOT evolve from monkeys. That we somehow "came from monkeys" is a story told by creationists and religious fanatics who believe in the biblical version of the origin of life in general and humans in particular. They use the "from monkeys" lie to make people recoil at the thought of being related to a "mere monkey" in an attempt to make them reject evolution.
We eveloved from a common ancestor we share with apes (apes are the ones without a tail, monkeys have tails).
About 7 million years ago a species of ape-like creature became divided into two populations (possibly by a physical barrier such as the African Rift Valley, possibly by a behavioural or social change such as early bipedalism). This resulted in two groups of the same species which did not interbreed - in effect two species. Each species underwent evolutionary change along different paths due to the different conditions they encountered and the differences in their respective gene pools. One group evolved into humans and the other evolved into modern-day apes.
Apes, monkeys and humans are still evolving today (for example the average height of a human is much greater than it was 500 years ago). Apes and monkeys will not evolve into humans unless they are subjected to the exact same conditions that selected for human evolution originally AND they carry the exact same genes and undergo the exact same gene mutations that early humans did (humans have 46 chromosomes whilst apes have 48 so the same mutation would be required on that level at the very least). The chances of evolution re-running itself to create a new set of humans at any time in the future is incredibly remote although a human-like descendant may possibly evolve in millions of years time if natural selection causes that path out of all the many possible routes.

Humans and monkeys do continue to evolve and adapt. They have a common ancestor - but it wasn't a monkey, at least not what you think of as a monkey today. That's why there are still monkeys even after humans evolved into the form you see today. It's also why 'the missing link' has never been found. Everyone is looking for transitional fossils showing a monkey/man hybrid. Even if there was a perfectly preserved fossil record going back thousands of years - the evolution of mankind goes back hundreds of thousands of years. We occasionally get a little glimpse into the past when we happen upon some bones and random pieces of pottery, etc. - but these are all considerably more recent. The only thing your car will do is evolve into is a pile of rust. It does not have the genetic code necessary to evolve or adapt.

This is a hard question and one that is widely a matter of opinion, depending on your belief. If you're religious you may have some other explanation for how man came about on the planet. In fact the story is different from religion to religion, lending credence to the scientific explanation. I could point out all the scientific evidence to try to convince you evolution is what really happened but in the end faith is faith and I respect that. Since your question is under the science category that's how I'm going to answer it as a science question. Evolution is regarded as a scientific fact. You may want to do some research on your own to find out what you believe; I personally think this is much better then taking anyone’s word for the “truth”.
Scientifically, Man did not come from Monkey, this is a terrible phrase. The "Man from Monkey" term doesn't begin to describe evolution, but don’t feel bad it’s a common misconception to say man come from a monkey.
The species that man evolved from is non-existent on this planet because they evolved into man a very long time ago. Evolution takes thousands to millions of years to occur, so it wouldn't be visible to any one person and the changes are normally vary slight.
The process is complicated but basically what happens is mutation in the DNA. If an animal lives it passes its DNA to its offspring. So if an animal lives long enough to pass on its DNA it is successful. Mutations witch are useful are kept where as others are not.
If you’re looking for evidence then look no further then your common household dog. Dogs evolved from wolves, everything from the Pitt Bull to the Chihuahua evolved from the wolf. Not only that but they can still interbreed to create a new breed of dog. This is the essence of evolution. Basically if a breed of dog didn’t survive it would die off and it would be extinct. Whereas, breeds which as successful continue on. Eventually we would be left with a couple of breeds of dogs each unique and different. Think of this as the capitalist market idea for breeds of animals. Evolution is indeed the survival of the fittest, just like the capitalist market idea.
I hope to have shed some light on the topic for you. If you want to know more google or wikipedia evolution.

Why would monkeys turn into humans? They are constantly evolving in their own direction. And so are we. We are not perfect in any way or the ultimate product of evolution. We are closely related to apes because we have a common ancestor (that was more lemur than monkey) and there is plenty of proof of this. Our DNA is one. Our behavior is another. Chimpanzees especially seem to have a lot of human traits. They are intelligent, use tools, and hunt. They also wage war against each other and kill their neighbors in a murderous frenzy very much like humans do. Are monkey turning into human? No. Humans and monkeys are both animals. And there won´t be any more monkeys soon. They are going extinct because of humans. Hooray to the master race.

I am an old man a scientist who has worked as such and studied evolution. I have also studied theology. I am tired of the recriminations employed by the two sides in the debate (between creationists and evolutionists) and am going to attempt to answer this without offending either.
You did not come from a monkey! You came from two living cells much more primitive than a monkey. Everyone who has studied any biology or been taught about human reproduction knows this. YOU CAME FROM A LOWLY SPERM CELL AND A LOWLY EGG CELL! Both are too small to be seen by the unaided eye.
Why do they keep beating one another up verbally in this debate. It is no disgrace to admit one does not really know for an absolute certainty that either the theologians or the scientists are right.
Good luck in your studies, good health, peace and love!

The answer you're getting is a unanimous NO.
That's because BOTH sides of the evolution vs. creationism argument know that the answer is NO. So, you should be asking ... what's all the argument about?
The statement that "humans came from monkeys" is the CARTOON version of evolution. Creationists love to promote the cartoon version of evolution, because it's much easier to ridicule something if you present it in a ridiculous way that doesn't resemble the actual theory at all.
The fact that you wonder "why don't monkeys still turn into people today" shows that you have precisely this ridiculous, CARTOON version of evolution in mind. It resembles more the Pokemon idea of evolution ... individual animals just shudder one day and "turn into" a different animal.
If you really want to have an intelligent opinion, pro or con, about evolution, at least you should learn what evolution really says. And to learn what evolution really says, you should NOT just listen to people who are anti-evolution, or read anti-evolution web sites or books. You would not learn about religion only from anti-religion web sites or books, would you?
So when evolution comes up in school ... don't just shut it off because someone told you that evolution is anti-God or something. Pay attention. It is what the scientists (pretty much ALL of them) believe is the best scientific theory there is for where we came from. Scientists are not stupid. And they are not just a bunch of atheists (about 40% of scientists who accept evolution *also* accept some idea of God). Scientists (ALL of them) have very good reasons for accepting evolution ... it's worth understanding why.
After you understand evolution, you can accept or reject evolution. But at least try to understand it first ... don't just think of the CARTOON version that the anti-evolutionists like to sell. Ask questions (real questions). Ask a lot of them. And not just the "If evolution is true, then why ..." kind of questions. People will reply to them as if they are not questions at all, but arguments ... and you need to ask straight questions first before you are ready to start making arguments.
Good luck.

this is a common misconception. evolutionists don't believe that humans "came" from monkeys, but that both monkeys/similar primeapes and humans developed from the same anscenstor. somewhere down the ancestrial line there is believed to be a branching into humans and monkeys.

Humans and modern apes have a common ancestors. Apes are not monkeys.
But creationists are directly descended from monkeys.
