Disagreeable folks often have a tough time in life, why?, nobody likes them, why? because they are so irritating. They don't know it though so, you smile at them and say have a pleasant day! They don't know what to do when that happens, it catches them off guard. Then you strike and kick them in the groin. Soon, they change their attitude. It's called an attitude adjustment.

my old best friend and I stopped being friends because he argued with everything I said. He once tried to tell me that my birthday was the 29th and not the 30th, like I don't know my own birthday.

But he would always argue and try to make me feel stupid so I would always end the argument by saying, "yeah, your right and I'm wrong like always, I forgot that I'm stupid and don't know anything and you know it all." That would piss him off enough to shut him up. the best part is I'm 19 and a junior in college and he dropped out of high school when he was a sophmore!

If they are being totally rude or grouchy, then best bet is to ignore them. But if you have to be around them a lot , then maybe by you being happy and kind and perhaps doing little nice things for them might turn them around and they could become
"agreeable". It's worth a try.

Don't deal with them. If you know that's how they are, try your best to stay away.

My father-in-law always told me to pretend those people don't exist and that truly does help. It isn't always possible especially if you work for or with them but I try hard to just ignore them...

Respect them as individuals - but don't try to change them or their opinions. They'll drive you straight into a padded room if you do.
