In many African countries, the leader knows the result long before any votes are cast.
Western governments know how corrupt these elections are and know that the 'status quo' will be maintained.

Are you seriously suggesting that some sort of corruption is at work in African elections? Or that supporters of one candidate or another are routinely intimidated, beaten up and locked up, so that the result of the election can be forecast even by a Sun reader? Shame on you! You'll be insinuating next that African Aid money doesn't always go to the intended purposes!!!
