It's not mine, but it really creeps me out! How does it make you feel & do you know where it's from?

I have heard this before but don't know the source.
I think its talking about voices in the writers head.

I think that poem is about personal destiny and disillusionment, not about a ghost. The man who wasn't there is the person who wrote the poem. He feels empty and lost and doesn't recognize himself as existing.

It makes me questions where the man was orginally supposed to be. He "wasn't there" could totally mean he wasn't where he was supposed to be at the time but he was on the Stairs.
It's a weird one and totally freaky.

I don't know, it sounds like this person met a ghost or some illusion of a man in their head. It does sound weird though!
