There is no such thing. We can change reality if we don't like the way reality is at the moment only. Even if you check out you have only changed reality. You still are a part of reality. Consume drugs even mind changing alterations are reality. Alcohol, driving a car, meditating jacking off or just being a total jerk, there is no such thing as escape from reality. Whatever you do is reality.

Read, hobbies, listen to audio books or music. Watch a movie. Reality has a malicious way of catching you out, though if you wake in the middle of the night.

Personally I have a dissociative disorder so I vacate reality even when I don't want to, You should look up stuff on astral projection. Even if you don't firmly believe it. If you can convince yourself its true, it still has the same effect on your mind.

I read fantasy books, I listen to expressive music, I talk with people online that don't really know me so I can be whomever I want with them (and to one of them I appear to have come across as something COMPLETELY different to what I really am!!!) ....and of course I read & answer on here - lots of funny or sad or plain peculiar stuff going on!

Hello! I write to exorcize my feelings, whether they're good or bad! By putting things into the real world - through writing -, they stop chasing your mind. Give it a try!

Strangely enough when I want to take my mind off my problems my usual strategy is to absorb myself in studying....if that fails then I play an instrument

I lock myself up in a place void of people and maybe light (such as a toilet cabinet or the cellar) and close my eyes and ears.
