As a Republican I have to say I am somewhat disappointed in Bush on this decision. Although it is his Constitutional power given to him. I cannot see how this will help heal America like when Ford pardoned Nixon.

It think it sets a bad example, it gives a blank check to people working in his administration to break the law for political gains because they do not fear jail time.

I don't care where you are in this country - try this. Walk out into the street and ask 10 people what they think about Bush pardoning Libby. I can pretty much promise you that at least 9 will look at you like you've lost your mind. The average person in this country doesn't even know his name. So no, I don't think it will be a big deal. People on here just have nothing better to harp about.

I don't think most people care about the "Libby issue."

Also, I don't think that it will affect his polls in any negative way. There are virtually no Dems or independents who still favor the president, and his commutation of Libby's sentence will only help his standing with Republicans.

I don't think the average American even cares. This is politics, pure and simple. Democrats vs. Republicans. Both parties will try to use it as a rallying call for their party. But in the end, it really doesn't amount to much.

Well, I will just be damned. 11 answers to this question without bringing up Clinton. Great job! I really don't think most Americans care one way or the other. Doesn't affect them.

I think most conservatives agree with the President. Mr. Bush does not worry about poll numbers. He does try to do the right thing. He is not always correct.

Sure why not.
Bush can't run again and Libby isn't running for office.

If they aren't they should be, anyone who believes prison for a lie is justice should double check their ethics...I think his approval rating should go up for this.
He did not remove the conviction, he only commuted the prison sentence, he still has a $250,000 fine and probation to serve.

I predicted that his base, about 30%, will rally back to him in the polls, after the amnesty debockle which they did not support, they are now coming home

Nope, but the only one's still supporting The Shrub (or The Devil for those who are multi-lingual) are the die hard conservatives who will never waver for never bothering to find out the facts about anything during their entire lives.
