ALL homeowners owe taxes from day one. A county database can sometimes be available on the web for anyone to look up. It is generally public information. Look for your county's (tax collection) website.

But are you referring to those setups where the homeowner cannot afford the property tax and sets up a lien (to have someone else pay for it)?

Just do a search on tax liens or 'tax lien listings'

example: http://retaxliens.net/

These are still risky...I wouldn't do this unless I had an attorney at my side. The part most people don't like is having to show up at the property to collect and be greeted with a shotgun.

There is no central database for such information. You will need to contact the land records office in each county in which you are interested in such properties. Some have the information available via county website and others require a personal visit to obtain the information.

Go to your local courthouse. Ask for a list of homes that will be for sale for back taxes. If there are any in your area, they will give you a list.
