Here's a report I read today:
The chances of Britain getting a sunny, balmy summer any time soon are slim, according to the experts - because the Azores have nicked our sun.
The cause of the floods, which claimed lives and blighted thousands of homes, has been an area of low pressure anchored over the country.
Normally, June and July have lengthy periods of high pressure over Britain, bringing warm, sunny weather.
But this year the high pressure area has become stationed over the Azores in the Atlantic, trapping low pressure areas to the east, over Britain.
Until it moves on - it seems that we're stuck with the rain.
The intense storms and torrential rain which blighted the country during June may not be repeated this month but it is anticipated that the weather will still be damp and gloomy.
The forecast for the next three to five days is a bright start on Thursday, then rain and strong winds continuing into Friday, followed by blustery showers. There will be rain in the south on Saturday.
And the prospects to mid-July are generally unsettled with some respite from the wet before further rain or showers spread across the UK.
Happily, the Met Office has lifted severe weather warnings across England and Wales so there is unlikely to be any danger of repeated flooding.
As for the rest of the summer, the forecasters say: "Average rainfall is more likely for southern regions, while average or above average rainfall is more likely in the north."
Meanwhile, a multi-million pound increase in flood defence spending has been announced.
...I'll be happy as long as it's sunny over the summer hols or my kids will drive me bonkers!

It's been beautiful clear skies all day here in Cumbria; it's temperate too so the conditions are perfect - I prefer rain to the sun absolutely blaring. I come on the internet to relax, I honestly don't care what's been happening in your area of Surrey or Dorset or Essex or Wessex in a Supermare or whatever queer place you live. Your fancy high-maintenence living has come back to haunt you as the ghoul that is global warming. I anticipate that Wimbledon will be moved up North and Asians will start migrating here, after all, they left India to escape the monsoons.

I live in the states, and my home (OKlahoma) averages 25 inches or so of rain each year. So far this year we already have 30 inches or more.
Pastues and fields that are usually brown by July are still lush and green.
Yes, we are experiencing floods. But before that we had a severe drought. Outdoor burning bans, wildfire danger. the whole deal.
The climate is cyclical, and "perfect" weather is not "normal".

I'm in London too and at the moment there's thunderstorms in the middle of July which is kind of worrying.
Will this ridiculous weather ever end as a result of our vast consumerism which has lead to climate change.
Oh look it's sunny again...what bollocks.
