The liberal anti war and hate Bush crowd is going to tell you that "outing" Valerie Plame (a non protected agent of the CIA) was done to embarrass her husband that wasn't backing up Administration contentions that Iraq was trying to buy nuclear weapons material in Africa. Its a stretch but considering Armitage is "who" outed Plame and that "outing" her only gives Joe Thomas more credibility its a lame smoking gun at best.

We went to war in Iraq over WMDs. Wilson's Report undercut the administrations claim. The Administration discredited Wilson by claiming he was recommend by his wife. His wife was allegedly a covert op at the time, thus making this illegal. Scooter Libby lied trying to cover up this alleged crime. Bush commuted Scooters sentence as he lied about a non-crime.

It's linked to the justification for going into Iraq, and the Administration trying to discredit the opposition.

Wilson was sent to Africa to find out if Sad am was pursuing nuke weaponry, he came back with a no there's nothing in facts that say he is, this went against the administration's assertions. His wife was I think Valery Plane, a spy of some capacity, who was then compromised, a crime. Scooter Libby got caught like they all do, trying to cover up.
