Some girls get that discharge a year before they get their first period. It all depends on your body.
That is completely normal discharge that every woman gets. It helps clean out the vagina.

Hi, I'm a trained midwife and the answer to you question depends on your age. I'm betting that you're about to go into your teens. That discharge is perfectly normal if it's white or clear. If it has a bad smell, then you should tell your mom to accompany you to your doctor. You might have a minor infection. There's no definite time that you will have your period. For some girls even the rhythm of their monthly cycles is a little bit off at the beginning. It's perfectly fine.
But if you feel any pain or smell something funny, you should go to a doctor. If you're not comfy with a male doctor, ask your mom to choose a female doc who can understand you better.

I used to get a thick white discharge for ages before I actually got my period. It is nothing to worry about, just your body adjusting as you go through puberty. If it is itchy, it might be a thrush infection. This is very common and can be causes by lots of things including diet, non-breathable undies, dirty hands in the area, and wiping the wrong way when you do number 2's (need to wipe from front to back). You could try having a bath with baking soda in the water, that might clear up a mild infection. Hope this helps

Discharge is something that every girl goes through, but there is nothing to worry about. Just talk to your doctor if you are feeling uncomfortable and if your discharge has an odor to it, however, to prevent infections, when you use the restroom, wipe from the top ( The place that the discharge is coming from) and then wipe your butt. Once again, don't worry about it.

If you haven't done anything sexual then it sounds like thrush to me- a mild 'infection' that can be treated with something like canesten cream. It will be irritating- it always is, and the unfortunate news is that it may return.
If it is very painful then you should really see a womens health nurse- they've seen and heard it all! It could be bacterial vaginosis- a more violent infection which can be cleared up if treated correctly.
Don't worry- you'll be fine

yea that kinda thing usually has nothing to do with your period. As you enter puberty your body will produce discharge but it shouldn't interfere with the start of your cycle

discharge is so normal; if its white or clear.
so the clear one, is just mucus, totally normal.
the white one should be sorta creamy like that happens a few weeks before your period begins. then a day or two before your period it turns to a brownish red color, then your period.
