In Enterprise Alabama, they have a statue of a boll weevil.
: ) Also, you might check out the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola FL and some of the old plantation houses if you like that sort of thing. Mobile has some interesting sights as well. Don't know what route you're taking, but if you come south on I-95, there's DC of course, Philadelphia (the historic area only), Williamsburg VA is awesome, there's some nice restaurants in Chattanooga and you'll see some beautiful scenery through the Appalachians. Bypass Atlanta. Aggresive drivers, high crime and traffic congestion all the time. Bon Voyage my friend.

During the trip while entering states there is a welcome station. and you can get some brochures and visit on the way. When my family drove from CT to GA, quite sometimes now,(and GA to CT), we love stoping by a Butterfly exibitt in North Carolina. And Yeah in CT this buffet dont exist, but down south there is a great buffet called "Golden Corral". When your on the highway you'll see tons of sings.

Not real familiar with your route but to break up the long trip check out small wayside parks or plan a "geography" break every 4 or so hours.
And greetings from the state of Alabama.
