here is my thought, in MY generation kids had other things to do, play outside, hang out with friends and family, parents paid more attention, more stay at home moms etc... kids didn't get bored and go sleep around. (at least not in my home town) in my entire school of 1500 kids there was only ONE pregnant girl. and it was a huge scandal and shock!

I know exactly what your saying. I strongly agree with it too. It not only bothers me that girls as young as thirteen and fourteen are having sex, but that I've seen a few people that are NINE YEARS OLD and want to have it. That's where it starts to get completely out of hand. I tell people all of the time that you have only eighteen years of childhood. During those eighteen years you should actually enjoy your life and not get caught up too much in relationships like these youth are. There's nothing wrong with having a relationship with the opposite gender when your at that age, but what people don't realize is that just because they are developed enough to have sex doesn't mean that they're fully ready to have it. Here are some questions to consider:
Do I really have the time to give the child the fullest attention he/she needs at that age without other things getting in the way of him/her?
Do I have the money to raise a child? It usually costs from $100,000 to $250,000 on average.
Am I honestly mature enough to have a child and am I legally married?
When people are in their teenage years, a lot of people take their relationships with others way too seriously. They do know what the consequences are of having it, but apparently they don't care. They don't realize that something sounds easier when said than done. They don't realize that if you use God's gifts the wrong way, you will regret it and suffer. But still, these people don't listen. You should be glad that your responsible. It will surely help you.

That is a very good question... because for some reason sex has become so open and excepted that kids think nothing of it... at my school we have had several teen pregnancy's. and if they were to ask who were still virgins and wasn't then the truth would probably shock 95% of there parents..i believe that parents are to easy nowdays... although sex ed is offered in school, it doesn't change the fact that boys and girls view sex as just something else to do... Sex is going to be there when the maturity level is equal with the age .. have fun now and don't try to grow up before your time.. because sometimes the conquences are having a baby or getting a STD ... and remember that the baby that you bring into this world doesn't ask have a choice.. it's up to you to say "NO'...

The only excuse i see that fits why so many young girls are having sex and even younger girls are wanting to have sex is because "everyone else is doing it". And its like grow the f*ck up, if everyone else was had HIV and babies would you follow that trend also. There are other reasons like young girls thinking they are grown, so they do grown-up business like smoke, drink, and have sex. But they forget about the grown up consequences. It seems like the things that we see college students (18-23) doing on TV shows like the real world (don't get me wrong i love the show) and in real life are setting a pretty bad example for the YOUNGER ones. The reason why it has gotten so bad today is because sex sells. And those that aren't sexually educated by the time they reach middle school need to be, so that the teen pregnancy rate doesn't sky rocket. But in my theory, it takes two. Its sometimes pretty obvious that guys pressure girls to have sex until they give in. The girls think its love, and the guys think of it as enjoyment. Its become human nature nowadays.

Thanks for bringing up a good point. I get really tired of teenagers on here - OMG. I'm 13..pregnant what do I do... Well for starters stop or don't have sex if you aren't responsible enough to think through the consequences... Furthermore, just being on the pill is NOT the most reliable form of BC. Especially, since I wouldn't trust a teenager to take it properly or read the pamphlet that comes with it.. I'm all for teen on BC I think that in this day/age that's it's foolish for a teen to get pregnant if they didn't want to.. There's so many different types of BC and using more than one method is also a really good idea... Give the guys some responsibility for themselves as well.... When I was a teen I went on BC- I just didn't want to be pregnant and looking back I was hardly grown up to be having sex... However, I DID use BC and properly and my partner(s) had to be protected as well. I ended up marrying my hs sweetheart which isn't to say I haven't had my fair share of partners I just protected myself and waited for the right time to have children which certainly wasn't in my teens... Good for you in being responsible.. .I applaud your efforts.. Spread the word !!!

Less parent-child interaction. Parents need to sit down and talk with kids about how sex is a serious matter and should be treated that way. That yes its a beautiful thing, but not to be enjoyed until you're old enough to handle the dire consequences should they come along. When you're old enough to support a child on your own, or accept death when AIDS comes knocking on your door--thats when you can have sex. These kids grow up too fast-- they think they're emotionally ready. It's so sad. Where are there mothers?

hi
I'm a 16 year old kid
sex, drugs, beer, smoking, and to some extent driving
are all problems
but
I think that it is not the school's problem, it is the PARENTS' problem
I never done sex, drugs, beer, smoking, and to some extent driving
why?
common sense, I know how my life will get destroy, my parents tell me WHY NOT, not DON"T
it is also how the person behaver in school....
most people around me would never dare offer me a cigar, most people around me know I don't swear
most people around me know I don't skip class, get into fights, do stupid stuff that will destroy my future (my future is already destroy because of my grades :p sigh....)
if your kid is the kind that is .....can't explain it, but
1. parents
2. peer pressure, why do some people pick on some people? why not other people?
3. what is YOUR kids attitude at school?
also,
teenagers (most), don't think
if someone called someone chicken for not street racing, they probably would
ever wonder why teenagers have the most car accendents?
and if I remember correctly, the legal age for sex is 16.......not 13/14, so they are also breaking the law.....

Divya, you are spot on in everything you said. To answer your Q, it might be that they just don't think they'll get preggers by the one single act until lo and behold---!! It always happens to the other guy, you know?
What I can't understand is that, with all the info out there about condoms, etc., why aren't they using them?
Like you, sometimes my brain explodes when I try to wrap it around the problem. The best thing you can do is stick to your guns and don't give in to the pressure and then, when you do have children teach them the same thing.
In fact, I think this tells a lot about how you were raised--go give your mom a hug and tell her what you just told us. You'll make her day. : )

The age that you become sexual varies from person to person. I don't think it's right for anyone to have sex at 13 either, but it happens, it might be because of a lack in responsibility on their parents' part or an early act of rebillion.
As long as you have more sense than that, don't worry so much.

I glad you are not part of those girls, who make all 13 year old's look bad. I am very proud of you accepting that having sex is for responsable people. Kids do it because they think they are responsable... or because parents don't teach them well... They think "if my parents are not responsable and had me... then why do i have to wait until I turn responsable..." Some teenagers just have the wrong idea and bad influences. Hope you can talk to other girls your age so they can change their minds and stop or don't start having sex!!!
Good luck!!

I think it is very wrong to have sex at the age of 13 the first time i had sex was when i was 16, three years older big difference? yes it is, at least for me, because I'm matured more then any of my girlfriends, i keep it safe just like everybody else should. But you cant stop it girls have sex when the **** they feel like it and there's nothing we can do. As long as they're protected then its all good.
