I think so...if your old enough to die in a war, your old enough to drink a beer and have full american adult rights. to me its the same priciple they used when getting voting rights for 18 year olds!

Lower the drinking age and you lower the age at which people start illegal drinking.

Having said that I think we have it right in the UK at 18, rather than your 21

At that age you are considered an adult so are responsible for your own actions.

It seems strange to me that the US has so many different limits, here in the UK they can't send soldiers under 18 to war as that is the age where legally they become adults, yet in the US you send them at 18, but don't let them drink for another 3 years.

Definate double standards in play, old enough to be trusted with a gun & the countrys safety, but not old enough to be trusted with a bottle of beer

yes I think we should. look at other countries. like France and Italy and Russia. yes there are people who take it to an extreme but most people were drinking from a VERY young age and those countries are better off than we are. we think we are doing a good job by keeping people from doing things. yes I still think drinking and driving is wrong but is this not a free country and we are limited as to when we are able to drink. from all of that yes, yes I do. i think we should be get rid of the drinking age all together. I think bars and clubs should be limited to an age just to keep perverts from kids and what not but I think we should all be able to make our own decisions. when I ave children they will live like I do, a glass of wine with dinner and what not. and if anyone wants to get upset and disagree with me well then come and talk to me in person.

I think the drinking age could be lowered to18, but I would also prefer to raise the driving age to 19. Sorry. I find that too many immature drivers are on the roads these days, but I also find too many senior citizens that should be riding buses. If you are a drinker for a year before you get your license to drive, you would have some idea of how the alcohol effects you.

Definatly not. Little kids are always goin to end up drinking anyway, but why give them permission. If we did we would have more drinking and driving then ever. Before the age of 21 kids are immature and reckless, even after the age of 21, but it is much worse when younger.

I don't even think there should be a drinking age. Stop making the government be the ones to put rules on young people: that's the job for their parents. If parents allow their children to drink, they should also be liable for anything their child harms as a result. Idiocy is not reserved for any age group.

YES--absolutely.
Think about it...if something is off-limits to young folks, it's much more attractive.
I remember when I couldn't wait to drive all over, when I got my license (even before!!). Now, I avoid driving any more than I have to.
It's the same thing with drinking alcohol. How many of you 'older folks' get a kick out of being able to go to the store & buy liquor? Not many, I imagine...it isn't a thrill or a challenge...

You can buy a pack of cigarettes at the age of 19 in NY and get cancer and dye yet you cant have a drink.

Kinda pointless don't you think. I mean it is 16 in Germany and they have less people dieing from it. When it is less tempting due to it being legal then people would be more responsible with it. Thats my belief

Personally, I don't drink and I don't believe there are enough people who can drink responsibily. But the age limit thing has always been a puzzler for me. People can drive at what...16 in most states, you can vote at 18. What carries more responsibility..drinking or voting? If you are mature enough to vote then it seems only logical that you should be able to decide if you want to drink. Just MHO

YES. I believe it would greatly reduce the number of abuses related to underage drinking. Teenagers...well we consider it kind of a thrill to do what breaks the law you know? Im sure everyone (or nearly everyone) feels that way...kind of rebellious you know? Underage drinking leads to many consequences...however, legal drinkers are proven much more responsible...less car accidents etc.
If, for one moment, you considered lowering the drinking age to say, 18, it would greatly reduce the number of alcohol related casualties.
