5{[7(a-4)+97]-[97(4a-7)+4]}

I'm going to take this piece by piece:
[7(a-4)+97]
= 7a - 4(7) + 97
= 7a - 28 + 97
= 7a + 69

[97(4a-7)+4]
= 97(4a) - 97(7) + 4
= 388a - 679 + 4
= 388a - 675

so....
[7(a-4)+97]-[97(4a-7)+4]
= (7a + 69) - (388a - 675)
= 7a + 69 - 388a + 675
= (7a - 388a) + (69 + 675)
= -381a + 744

Now...
5{[7(a-4)+97]-[97(4a-7)+4]}
= 5 (-381a + 744)
= 5(-381) + 5(744)
= -1905a + 3720

7(a - 4) + 97 = 7a - 28 + 97 = 7a + 69
97.(4a - 7) + 4 = 388a - 679 + 4 = 388a - 675
Subtraction gives:-
- 381a + 744
Multiply by 5:-
- 1905 a + 3720

this is how i would do it,

5{ [7(a-4)+97] - [97(4a-7)+4] }

5{ [7a-28+97] - [388a-679+4] }

5{ [7a+69] - [388a-675] }

combine like terms

5{ [-381a+744] }

times everything by 5 to get answer

-1905a + 3720

hope i was able to help

GOOD LUCK

Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiply, Divide, Add, Subtract is the order of operations.

5{[7a - 28 +97] - [388a - 679 + 4]}
5{[7a + 69] - [388a - 675]}
5{-381a + 744}
-1905a + 3720
This is probably the answer you need but if you need to solve for a:

I'm assuming it's set to 0 so...
-1905a + 3720 = 0
-1905a = -3720
a = 3720/1905
