The dwarf puffers like to nip fins. Sometimes they can be kept in a community tank if you have enough snails to keep them busy and plants/decorations to keep them distracted, but you'll have to do that at your own risk. More than likely, they will tear the betta's fins to pieces and kill him.
The dragon goby is really a brackish water fish (if it's the one I think you're talking about), so it wouldn't be a good choice either. They are quite peaceful though.

the DPs like to nip at sluggish shifting fish. they are actually not the rampant killers that those human beings look to think of they're. I actual have a male and lady pair that have bred till now... although the rasboras ate many of the fry. i first have been given them for my 2.5 planted tank. i had them in there with a male and femal guppy. they did advantageous however the male chased the female (puffers it relatively is) slightly initially. i then moved them to my 25 gallon "small fish" community with neons, glass cats, cories, gold barbs, otos and chain loaches. the only issues that have been given picked on have been the otos and cories. even then it substitute into in simple terms little fin nipping. DPs are many of the cleanest fish i've got ever seen! my different fish will spit out some nutrition, however the DPs in simple terms take complete bloodworms without fuss. i've got additionally in no way seen a dookie putting off my puffers till now, ever, as I actual have with the different fish i've got ever owned (ought to be far greater than eighty species and 500 specimens) they now stay in a 10 gallon with a 2'' striped raph catfish, and four harlequin rasboras. the rasboras are larger Aholes than the DPs, i'm relatively questioning approximately removing them and getting some greater neons/cardinals. in a 6.5 you will possibly desire to do the two or yet definatle no longer the two, the DP will nip the betta unmercifully. DP's pass throught the total tank a minimum of five circumstances daily. and no puffers are not labyrinth fishes.

In a 5 gal tank you will have a Puffer battle! There won't be enough space for your other fish to run and hide. In the end, you'll be left with one winner, providing he isn't killed by injuries as well.
If your betta gets lonely in his 5 gal, just put a small mirror next to it. It'll perk him up a bit.

No. Puffer Fish are extremely aggressive fish, Bettas are extremely peacful fish that have no real defense. Many people think Bettas are aggressive because male Bettas fight other male Bettas, but they only fight fish that look like Bettas. Your Puffer Fish have beaks and they will absolutely tear your entire Betta to pieces.

I would say no tot he Dwarf puffers as they aren't just fin nippers, but whole body nippers!
THe dragon goby would quickly outgrow your 5 gallon
You might check out some pygmy cory cays, a few species of killifish would work or of course some of the smaller tetras would be a great addition.

while the dwarf puffer isn't saltwater, it isn't freshwater either. They are a brackish water fish and will not do well with your betta. They will nip fins, etc.
If you want some fish to put in with your betta, try some white cloud minnows or smaller tetras.

Dwarf puffers are not community fish, if you wish to keep them put them in a species tank, the only really good tankmates are ottocinclus. They, even with their own species can be territorial

No...beta fish are solitary fish. Even in the wild they are found in shallow areas that most of the time the fish have their own puddles. When the rainy season comes the puddles combine and they mate.
