I'd like to plan a trip for next year- I don't want to have to deal with horrible traffic or nightmare parking shortages, so please consider these factors in your answer. Anywhere in the US is OK. Fireworks + music or a festival or something would be a plus. Thanks for your suggestions!!

Why not Philadelphia? It all began here, afterall! Philly puts on a week-long celebration prior to the 4th to help get everyone ready to Welcome America. There is tons of street and professional music, parades, food, fairs, special tours and discounts on historic museum/tour tickets.

For more info check out:

Cheers!

DC has a great show (in addition to the National Symphony playing the fireworks show, there will be some b-list singers there all day--this year Tony Danza is hosting) and great public transportation to get to it, but you'll need to use the subway if you want to go to the main event on the mall.

Of course, there are plenty of places outside DC from which you could watch the same fireworks (and listen to the symphony show on the radio) where you could park--there are many places you could stop along the GW parkway and watch the show from across the river. Or get a hotel room with a view of the white house and you don't even have to brave the crowds--watch from your balcony or the rooftop restaraunt.

If you go to Kemah, Texas, by where I live, its right by the water, so there is a boardwalk that has restaurants and games and rides (like a ferris wheel and stuff) a band and an amazing fireworks show that reflects off the water and it looks amazing. :)

Try the Stadium of Fire in Utah, it is an awe inspiring program. Read reviews on it and you will find nothing but good things about it. You need tickets way in advanced.
