If it's not under warranty, take the side off of your PC case. (Turn off the power first, and remove the plug from the socket.) Look for the card that your monitor lead plugs into. Now, unplug your monitor lead. Remove the card that it was plugged into and then replace it.

Screw the side back on your case and then plug it back into the power socket.

Switch on your computer to see if this has resolved the issue. If it hasn't, it might indicate that your video card has failed. Note I said "might indicate" this.

If you have a friend or relative that you can borrow a video card from, that uses the same type of socket (it could be PCI, AGP or PCI-e, none of which are interchangeable), see if you can borrow it and try it in your computer. There'll be no need to install their drivers for the card. You simply want to check that it's the video card that has failed. Someone else's video card will give you some sort of display, even if drivers aren't installed.

Hopefully, this will either sort out your problem, or indicate that you need to purchase a new video card. If you do need to purchase a new video card, either take along your computer so that they can see which slot is available, or run a utility such as Belarc Advisor to gain the knowledge as to which card you currently have.

You may find that your monitor doesn't actually plug into a separate card. This means that you have onboard graphics. If this is the case, you can get around the "no signal" message by purchasing an add-in video card.

You can download Belarc Advisor from the following url. This will give you a comprehensive breakdown of the hardware and software that makes up your computer.

If this doesn't solve your problem, email me. (Click on my avatar/photograph and you'll find that you can contact me this way.)

I have had this problem several times, but fortunately the computer has been under warranty. Obviously the first step is to try and eliminate the monitor and cabling by using another monitor and cable. I had another monitor and another cable and so in every case was able to demonstrate that the problem lay with the computer.
Now, if your computer is not under warranty, the bad news - first time HP took the computer back, changed video card and motherboard (big expense)- problem solved.
Some months later same problem. Store extended warranty, home visit, new video card tried, no good. Eventually solved with another new motherboard.
Three months later same problem, home visit - solution new power supply. Technician suggested previous problems had overstretched it.
So if it's not your monitor and it's not your cable you could be in for mega expense and if out of warranty you might be best to cut your losses and get a new computer!
Sorry.

go to control panel/system/hardware tab/device manager/scroll down to monitor/click on the + sign and then right click on the monitor and click the update driver.
if this don't work go up to display adapters and do thesame thing for your graphics card.
if this don't work try opening the left panel of your computer and take the graphics card out. put it back in then restart the computer a balloon will pop up saying new hardware installed click it and let it do its thing it will reinstall the drivers.
If this don't work try hooking the monitor to another computer if it still comes up no signal the monitor is probably bad and needs replaced. if it works the graphics cards is bad.

There are some motives this may well be: examine the cable on the returned of the computer screen and make helpful this is related suited. examine that the computer screen is desperate on the proper enter. examine the returned of the computing gadget and make helpful the video cable is plugged into the proper socket (in case you have onboard video and have extra a card). After that: examine that the RAM is seated properly. If nonetheless no success, attempt booting into secure mode and notice if that provides you any video. if so, set the default decision to 800x600 or re-load the video drivers. If nonetheless no success, take it to be clinically determined.

You might have on-board graphics? If so, plug the monitor cable in to that and give it a try. It could be that your BIOS has it turned on.

If you have an add-in graphics card, you need to turn off the on-board to use it. Once you turn off on-board graphics, then plug in the monitor cable to the add-in card.

Shut down and reboot; try it again; and swap monitors with another system to see if it is your monitor or your video card.
